While it will make sense for a national team to wear a home brand (Italy kits were made by Kappa and Diadora at some point; same with England and Umbro and Japan with Asics), they're probably not able to pay the same sponsorship deals as Adidas, Nike or Puma. That away shirt was so hated in Uruguay it became a meme. People ironically began priting it on their thermos (which if you know anything bout Urguay you know thermos are part of our daily life), on their surfboards (because our President is a surfer), on their football shinguards (beacuse yeah, the WC), on their refrigerators as calandar pages (because it looks like a calendar page), etc all to prove Puma how easy it is to replicate such simple design. Speaking of which, some claimed it looked like a calendar page so people have been copying the design to make calendars about horrible events. IE how many days without car pooped by birds, how many dates before tooth extraction, etc.

The Nike '04 shirts look much better when they're being worn. The accent lines are wide enough apart where they frame the torso without becoming a focal point. By contrast, these Puma kits have the lines much more centralised and feel more like a logo or band t-shirt design than an actual piece of sportswear. The badgeless shirts are still much more egregious IMO. It shouldn't be understated that the badge of a club or international team is so important for allowing fans to identify with it. Taking the badge away is taking away a crucial aspect of how teams feel ingrained in the culture and history of a particular place.

I've seen all the kits for the WC and yes, I feel like Puma's away kits are slightly better then they did last year. Their home shirt however, is a major downgrade, at least for some teams. Nike did a good job for this year's WC. I do like most of the away kits like Portugal and England, but I can only find some home kits that stand out like the Netherlands and Croatia. And I don't need no explanation on Adidas. Whoever designed the jerseys should give a HUGE amount of raise right now! By far, Japan and Mexico are my favorites, both home and away.
