Dude, the temperature of her voice in the second "ballet" of this crescendo is what makes it. It's like perfectly raspy, and her resolve at the end, the "llet" part, is just pure emotional and musical bliss. Then she ends it with a perfectly toned finish. Superb, phenomenal job.

There is no tension, no pressure, no strain. It sounds positively effortless. This isn’t easy to sing in the first place, but to sing it with such clarity and power is just a master class.

Sascha in terms of pure vocal power for Maggie Mara EASILY wins. Kay Cole was the original Maggie, and she was amazing, but overall I think most would say Mara reigns supreme.

This is not a belt, but a very healthy, solid mix. One could try to use chest voice and belt that E, but that would have been too much. You don’t want to sound yell-y, but it has to be well mixed and placed in front so the note stands out.
@donnythedarko8 жыл бұрын
The best is seeing her audition, then seeing this. You can definitely see the amount of pure talent it takes, but at the same time how much work goes into producing the art. Brilliant inspiration. Thanks for posting.

That's where you're wrong. Everyone in the line is like a lead role all their own. I mean Zach and Cassie are clearly the main characters, but everyone in the line is not a little or main role. They put their all in it. Which is why they all dance at the end of the show as ONE.

She's the only Maggie I know who did that riff perfectly without being nasally. The original broadway revival had a near perfect cast. Everyone was on point despite the changes to the choreography and overall rendition. I'm glad this version had Mara and Jason from the Original Broadway revival and Leigh from the west end revival. I really wish they had scarlett strallen as Cassie. The rest of the cast was meh.

audiences shouldn't applaud big notes and such things ... they should wait to the end of the number ... it makes things like the X Factor and it interrupts the rest of the audiences concentration.
@FallenAngel64998 жыл бұрын

@toad4558 жыл бұрын
i think it's the combo of her hitting the note plus the ballet blaze going on as well.
@joeyripley74358 жыл бұрын
It's the spectacle of the note and the background ballet scene.
@ChrisChanningChannel8 жыл бұрын
well yes . but we don't have to applaud every time something exciting happens... it's pure x factor ... it's cheap.

I also think that the outdoor concert style (even though it was a full production) of the Hollywood bowl lends itself to people cheering during performance highlights. I'm probably making assumptions, but I would say a good chunk of the audience there (myself included) had seen/heard/were familiar with a chorus line, so we were hoping to be impressed with what we saw and applaud it when we were satisfied
