I agree that the figure needs extra stuff. In the book "The Last Command", Luke gave Mara the lightsaber that was lost during the duel against Vader. She wielded that lightsaber over the course of several books. So, the figure should also include the blue-bladed lightsaber that once belonged to Anakin and Luke. Mara Jade also wears a short white cape occasionally. So, that should have been included. In addition, the lightsaber featured in this figure actually belonged to Jaina Solo. Mara Jade's lightsaber hilt is shorter and looks different. Regardless, this is a nice figure overall.

I like this figure for what it is but its annoying that these American figures tend to be stuck with a trigger finger on their right hand. Import figures always come with a pair of grabbing hands, closed fists, open relaxed hands as minimum alongside accessory specific holding hands. It makes such a difference.

Black series never really does extra heads or hands, there have only been a handful of figures that have included extra parts. The line originally retailed for 20, then they went up to 25 after utilizing printing tech for the faces, and now with all the inflation it's at around 30 per figure. Even the vintage collection 3.75" figures are at nearly $20 when they used to be around $13. crazy stuff.

Does any Us action figure line do headswap/handswaps as standard? Im more of an import collector and it makes such a night and day difference for playability to have that stuff. At the same time, I understand alternative head sculpts are way more expensive than just printing on an anime faceplate. Im totally new to Black Series and I understand this one is really expensive for a Black Series. Nothing compared to how insane import figure prices are but the fact that you can buy older imports for this same price and they will come with dozens of accessories and alternate body parts is crazy. Overall the figure market as a whole is becoming ridiculously expensive despite becoming extremely stingy with accessories.

The Story (The Thrawn Trilogy) where she first appeared it's by far one of the best Star Wars stories of all time, give it a shot If you like someone. If you don't like reading, there is a comic book adaptation and audio book, but the novels are preferable.

Yeah Mara Jade is using quite a few parts from Jaina Solo/Doctor Aphra mold. Agree they should have had the alternative head with scarf/goggles up. Her gun from the series was a different look but thus gun is reuse from same Aphra/Jaina Solo figure. I can’t remember but I think her saber is reuse from Jaina Solo. Mara Jade is an important character and they could incorporate her into the live action series if they wanted. Seems this current Luke is I’m a monk training kids as opposed to husband and father.

Something in my wheel house, by which I mean Hasbro underdelivering on content in the box, it drives me nuts they charge almost $30 for figures now, and half the time a figure will get one weapon (especially black series) Most profitable toy company in america, possibly the world, and at $30ea we can't even get character appropriate accessories, especially when characters like Mara Jade won't get 40 versions, this is it for the next 5 years probably

I'm a big SW fan since 95 & have read the Thrawn Trilogy by Tim Zahn & it's pretty great. Mara Jade is featured in that series. Ditzny should have gone more along the lines of that route instead of Rey being Palpatens long-lost maids roommate great grandaunter lol 🤨🤨 making Luke a failure cry baby.

Another great review👍🏿. First I love the sculpting on this figure, but she needs more accessories priced at $27.99. The plastic free packaging is a deal breaker for me. In my opinion, the only toy company that can get away with plastic free packaging is Lego...for obvious reasons🤷🏾‍♂️. Also my gripe with Hasbro is they have transition into a lackluster toy company. Now the company more is concerned with profit rather than customer satisfaction.

I'm pretty sure Black Series just means it's a six inch figure. I don't think they have ever come with many accessories, save for a few "deluxe" special releases (like the cantina band member). Of course, the prices also weren't always pushing $30 after tax for basic releases.

I hear people use the license as a defense because they like Hasbro, but there are loads of brands out there with the license and are much smaller companies. I just don’t think that should be a factor. They can make up for it on other lines or figures. Shoot, Chevrolet completely remade the Corvette but they paid for that R&D with the profits from others vehicles they sold. That’s why the car is still affordable despite competing with super cars.

Great review , you’re right about your views about this figure. Even though it is a figure character long waited from SW fans , it could have been better in a matter of extra options. But it is a major problem with Hasbro s Star Wars entire lines, the bonus included with each figure are so few ( or non existent) so alternate heads my god I would like to see that but don t seem to recall it ever happened. More so that this figure of Mara jade uses most of her body parts from a previous release of Jaina Solo but already from quite few years ago… damn Hasbro. Oh and one last point Hasbro announced they will reused again plastic but recycled plastic in their 6 “ lines including Marvel Star Wars and so on…. Great review

I just picked up my first Black Series figure this week. It was Jar Jar Binks, and he'd been severely discounted to £10 (can't imagine why), and gotta confess I thought it was great. The articulation still wasn't fantastic granted but the paint and moulding was perfect and it came with more accessories than he can hold at a single time. So I guess the Black Series is worth it, so long as you aren't picky and buy the bargain bin stuff.

I started picking up some black series and I had just about all the same complaints as you did here. Got my mandatory ones like Mando and boba and got the heck out. :( I was actually kinda interested in this one since I read the books but now that I see it in hand, I can feel ok passing. I preordered a Cosmic Legions character! They have great prices in comparison to other brands, so I’m looking forward to experiencing one. I love the idea of modular figures. I bought that Mando figure last year (linked at the end of this video) and couldn’t believe it. That one was like $38 when it came out. What a rip off.

Came out to like, 35 for Mando and 35 for asokha. Woohoo! You're done for now. Which cosmic did ya grab? The modular stuff is so cool, and I'm working towards making my own ideal figs :)

Nope. Not over priced. Yes, the figure is 80% re-use. Star Wars license isn’t cheap. Yes, Lucasfilm is tough to deal with. They don’t like extra hands in this brand. They still see them as toys. Yes mostly adult collectors are buying these figures. But they are still toys. It is what it is. So fans of Mara Jade can enjoy a 6” version. There was a 4” version made.
