Are these two of the BEST from NECA?

We look at the older set of Slash and Leatherhead from NECA's TMNT toon line. Do these two really hold up? Are Slash and Leatherhead some of the best? NECA has changed a lot over the last couple of years and I'm not so sure these are great TMNT figures...

Got them from the NECA and stashed away for a long time! Straight from my closet to your door. The older ones definitely do leave something to be desired and typically just look good hanging around. Slash is the star of the set and I absolutely agree that he needed some extra hands!

You really think Slash is the star of the set, _really?_ Absolutely nothing against your view, I've just never heard anyone mention they like this version. Not just cause how goofy the toon version looks, but the inaccurate smaller bodied brothers reuse.

@@Chalor. I mean, it’s not my favorite version of the character but objectively speaking it is the better figure. And if it’s not for you, that’s cool too. I’m thankful we got both figures out at once. Not liking the design of something doesn’t make it a bad figure as it’s pretty spot on to the show. Could it be a little thicker? Yeah for sure. Maybe a hair taller? Absolutely. But reuse is the way of the toy world and NECA has proven that they’re gonna try to make your favorite version of whatever character at some point. And that’s good enough for me.

yeah i cant wait for the mirage leatherhead. when i got into neca turtles last year i quickly learned that its expensive to track down the old stuff, and their older stuff wasnt at the same level its at today. leatherhead is one of my favorite villains though so i hope we get lots more of him in the future. i would even love a more playable mutant mayhem version of the character.

Slash was originally Beebops pet turtle who was obsessed with his Palm tree refereed to as Binki, they mutated him into slash and he went berserk after they lost the tree stealing Shredders family swords and a couple of Lazers he made it to our world from dimension x and hit up a pizza place where he was scarfing down pizza and april mistook him for one of the turtles because plot etc etc you know how these go, he made 2 other appearances. He had a much more aggressive versoion in the archie comics who was more akin to the figure.

I'm sorry I had to ruin the nice number of likes you had by becoming like number 70, but you deserve a like. Gorgeous figures, but since I'm relatively new to NECA I'm glad you gave the heads up about how fragile these figures are. I'd love to see these rereleased with a more durable build. I've got the Playmates Slash, Super7 Slash (Got it on sale! WHOOOO!!!), and the Turtles in Time Slash (sadly one of the claws broke off when I was trying to get it out of the plastic tray, but I managed to hot glue it in place), and I've been eyeing the Archie comics version, so I guess I'm collecting Slash figures now. lol I'd love to add this version to the collection, but not at the price the 2-pack is going for without an upgrade to the durability.

Yeah, the aftermarket is higher than they should be for these two. But, I guess supply and demand or something. You have some great Slash figures and I always like the more aggressive version over this dopey one

This one did get a rerelease about a year ago and they fixed the feet articulation a little bit but no extra hands for slash

I'd Love for Neca to make a Alopex Figure, Or Even any Anthro Fox Character. Because most of the Time- I Love Neca, But They tend to be very Focused on Horror. Which isn't my thing, So Hopefully They make Something to do with Foxes. Anyway Good Review, "I Can Guarantee"

Thing is it's not just Neca. Other companies figures can break out of the box. Not all the time. It's probably 1 out of every 10. It depends on how tight the twisties are. That's why for my expensive figures I keep in mib/moc.

I was so happy I finally found this set early last year for Haulathon. Took them all out of the packaging and went to articulate Leatherhead’s right leg and it snapped right off 😂😂 the only time a TMTN Neca figure broke on me. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Just bought this set a few weeks back. You can definitely feel the difference with Leatherhead. I didn’t like handling him when I was heating his joints. Bebop and Rocksteady feel the same. I felt for sure you were going to break something major on him. I would not be surprised if a lot of these early figures are redone and rereleased in an ultimates single box. I’d be all for it, too. I really liked the Groundchuck/Dirtbag and Ace Duck/Mutagen Man boxes. I don’t remember the episodes they were in, but NECA did a great job on them.

My Leatherhead has one hideous pink ankle joint that is so glaring amongst his dark blue pants/shoes. Looks like maybe you dodged that issue with yours 🙂

If I remember right, I think Leatherhead simply had more appearances in the toon which is why he had the lion's share of accessories. Slash...I'm not sure what hands they'd need to include outside of some gesturing hands. And that clip on Leatherhead's side always came off, it's all because it's stuck to a thin rubber belt with barely any surface area to have stuck to in the first place. Makes sense that jamming your hand against it would dislodge it. I can live with it popping off and being easily stuck back into place over truly breaking. I agree that both figures show their age a bit by this point, but I never felt like Leatherhead needed to be treated with kid gloves or anything. He's tight, for sure, but still. He's just a nice bulky figure. I wouldn't say no to a V2 if they ever found it in their interests to do it though.

I easily passed on that Leatherhead because it's practically the same mold as the Triceratons and i am absolutely in luv with those figs. I have four lol. I am a HUGE Paleo-nerd though. :)

Haha, I love it. I think he has the same legs and hands as Bebop and Rocksteady (same molds). If they remake him he needs to be a bit thicker in the body. Love me some dinosaurs though, too

In the cartoon they're bad guys. In the comics slash would sometimes be evil other times a good guy. He was friends in the archie comics mutanimals. Leatherhead was a straight up good guy on the hero team the mutanimals. Until they were killed off in the archie comics.

I bought a bunch in 2020. Never opened them because after waiting a year to get Bebop and Rocksteady, Rocksteady’s leg broke and NECA told me we don’t have anymore too bad. Really turned me off to buy anything more from NECA. Enjoy!

Some other things that irk me is it's a couch not a sofa, and it's soda not pop. Which unfortunately my daughter says cause her mom/my former wife (🤮) is from Indiana.
