There are great vocalists that, for some reason, at my age, I just have no desire to binge listen to. Then there are those that I get trapped looping if I hear one song, like Whitney Houston or Celene Dion, showwomen who sound even better live, and give you chills. Mara has done that to me this season. She has put in the work for years now, grinding to earn a living, honing her voice and stage presence. She is unique, extremely talented, and addictive. You just trust that she is going to be amazing. I relistened to her first performance about 10 times, this one twice so far (I wish it were just her singing!), and I CANNOT WAIT to see and hear more of her!

I really enjoyed that battle! One of the best battles this season! I think that Claudia B. really stepped up and improved from her blinds but Mara was outstanding throughout the whole battle and slayed. This song was perfect for Mara but also a great song for Claudia too. Claudia deserved that steal so I'm happy to hear more from her. Mara was the clear winner for sure as well! She showed more grit here than she did in the blinds and I loved her diction. Her diction was perfection and flawless.
