Técnicamente, es el jugador más brillante que ha existido. Sencillamente, la pelota no tenía secretos para él. Además, poseía un regate sublime y una visión de juego incomparable. Era capaz de armar el juego como nadie y, a la vez, de agredir siempre en las zonas de peligro. No tenía la velocidad en carrera de un Di Stéfano, Pelé, Cruyff, Ronaldo (Nazario) o Messi, pero su conducción era tan perfecta que ni siquiera los más veloces defensas podían quitarle la pelota. Le faltó regularidad y cuidarse fuera de la cancha. Pero en sus momentos de brillantez es incomparable. Diego es la estrella que más luz ha dado al mundo del fútbol.

Sobre regularidad no comparto, desde Argentinos Jrs hasta el mundial del 90, casi 13 años en un nivel impresionante, el mejor jugador del mundo. Luego del primer doping ya su vida cambió y aún así tuvo grandes momentos.

@@pedrolamas6652 Particularmente, creo que el mejor Maradona fue el de los primeros años, hasta el 84. En ese tramo de su carrera (1977-1984) sí creo que fue muy regular, incluso estando en el Barcelona, pese a la lesión y a la hepatitis, cuando estuvo sano jugó casi siempre a un gran nivel. Pero sí comparto la opinión de Míchel, quien fuera jugador del Real Madrid en la misma época: "en el Barcelona ver a Diego era una maravilla, pero desde su marcha a Italia su velocidad decreció a ojos vista, y de ningún modo era ya el jugador de antes". Es una opinión a contracorriente del tópico, que suele situar a lo mejor de Maradona en Italia. Por el contrario, creo que los serios problemas de drogadicción empiezan ya con Diego en Italia, y que el Mundial del 86 fue el pico más alto de su carrera. Cierto que también ganó los Scudettos de 1987 y 1990, pero para quienes lo vimos jugar recordamos que hubo temporadas (la 87/88 o la 88/89) en que su nivel bajó muchísimo respecto de lo que era Diego. Por eso hablo de irregularidad en su rendimiento, sin duda un lunar en su carrera motivado por razón de la adicción que tanto daño le hizo. Saludos

@@carlossimancas9867 Comparto tu conocimiento de cómo fueron las cosas, aunque diría que físicamente estuvo en su plenitud hasta mediados del 1987, luego fue decayendo físicamente y levantó para el mundial del 90 pero aún así nada que ver al estado físico del mundial 86 que fue lo máximo. De todas formas siguió siendo el mejor jugador inclusive sin cuidarse, eso es lo más destacado, era tan bueno que siempre marcó diferencia cualquier sea su condición física en esa etapa. Luego del primer doping todo cambió lamentablemente pero siempre un gusto verlo jugar.

His drug problem started when he became a problem for the Camorra who brought him to Napoli in the first place. Napoli was a poor club and there is no way they could pay Barcelona that world record breaking transfer fee! The reason for bringing Maradona to Napoli was the declining in illegal betting activities lurking as Napoli was on the verge to relegation. That business was very lucrative for the Camorra. In the season after the first time won the Scudetto all napolitans were betting on a consecutive Scudetto to be won the following year. With only 5 rounds remaining they had only lost one game and were cruising for yet another Scudetto. If that was to happen the Camorra would go bankrupt as they would have to pay out over 2 billion lire. News hit the papers that both Maradona and Careca were threathened on teir lives and Maradonas car was sabotaged. Napoli then lost 4 games in a row and drew the last one and at he end of the season Milan won the Scudetto. The following year Maradona was seen more and more at parties held by the Camorra. If they couldn’t handle him then the next option was to attack his fitness. However with a,l the efforts by the Camorra to keep Maradona at bay Napoli still came second the following season. In Europe the Camorra had no interest of slowing Maradona down, and he took Napoli to european glory as well. The following season was topped of by yet another Scudetto! By now his drug abuse was wellknown and he was simply unpredictable formthe Camorra! They had to get rid of as Napoli didn’t earn them the money innillegal betting activities as it used to. So several years after it had become publically known in Italy that Maradona had become a drug addict he suddenly got caught for it. And if that wasn’t suspicious enough in its own right a story was plantet of his off-marriage son in Italy. Both were known in gossip in Napoli but both stories being afirmed at once was the last nail in the coffin for Maradona. It didn’t really matter that Maradona didn’t possess the same speed and acceleration that used to, cause his playmaking skills were so immaculate that he would orchestrate chances upon chances to secure the scudetto came back to Napoli! I saw him in a farewell game for Lothar Matteus I believe it was in 2000 or there about, just months before he was hospitalized fighting for his life. He could hardly run 2 meters without grasping for breath, but that didn’t even matter! He outshined everybody on that Bayern Munchen team and opponent team as well.. Every touch was pure magic! To annoyance of Lothar Matteus Maradona completely stole the show and the hearts of the germans. Some 5 years later and once again just before(or after..) he again was hospitalized for heart issues he played a game which also starred a young Lionel Messi in 2005 with most of a year of experince in Laliga. They linked up as you would expect them to, but there was no question mark about a 45 year old Maradona simply outshining Lionel Messi. In 2018 Maradona had surgery in both knees as he was incapable of walking any longer. A long and unjust career being constantly fouled and hacked at, that in a civil life would be considered criminal acts, for being the dribbling King above them all, and I do mean all, as nobody even comes remotely close, finally came with its price!! There was NO cartilage left in either knee! For most of his career Maradona played on painkillers but that couldn’t take the bravery out of him. An absolute Legend and easily the best footballer to ever grace a football pitch!! RIP
