Wonderfully played and definitely a lovely transcription! I'm surprised that it works so well, but very glad for it. Marais is one of my favourite composers.

Thank you! He is one of my favorite composers too, so I'm happy that such a good transcription exists!

@@johnmoraitis Absolutely nothing to thank me for! Saw in another comment thread that you've transcribed "La Revuse", which is one of my favourit pieces, so I'll be giving that a listen in a second.

Brilliant, John! I can't describe your playing a anything other than 'purely French.' Out of all the regions where Baroque music was written, I think the French Baroque speaks to me the most.

Thank you! Like you, it's the French Baroque the speaks to me the most. And I'm sure that has definitely influenced my playing style!

Votre sensibilité sied à merveille à la beauté de cette pièce. Merci très fort. / Thank you John for this beautiful approach. I am very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this Marin Marais piece on the harpsichord. This transcription is a wonder. Your sensitivity perfectly suits the beauty of this piece. And your harsichord made by Martine brings here a magnificent sound. Thank you so much. François

Wow! I was not aware of these keyboard transcriptions. Your playing sounds very gorgeous and, for violist, it is rather surprising listening to such a familiar piece, but "different"! I'll try to "import" some suggestions to the viol...

Thank you! As far as I know, this is the only transcription Claudio Di Veroli has made, but I hope he'll do more in the future. I recorded my own transcription of La Reveuse a while back, so if you go back through my videos you'll find it. I don't know if it worked as well (I'll let the listener decide that!), but I tried my best :-)

I very much enjoyed this performance. I tend to enjoy Marais' music in general. :~) Beautifully done!

Thank you! I also really like Marais' music, and I often wish I could play the viola da gamba just so I could play some of his pieces -- so I'm grateful for this transcription :-)

John Moraitis I understand. I sometimes wish that I could play string instruments for the same reason. Keyboards I can do. Brass instruments I can do. Even woodwind instruments I can do, sort of. Strings, not so much. :~(

At least you can do a lot more me :-) Learning to play the harpsichord after being trained as a pianist kept me occupied to such an extent that I am pretty much a keyboard-only person, although I still hope to change that in the future!

John Moraitis I would love to learn the bassoon.

I'd have to go with viola da gamba (as mentioned above) and lute, since French baroque composers wrote so much wonderful music for both instruments!

really can appreciate the different tempers here.....lovely just lovely. my single manual won't be able to replicate :'(
@johnmoraitis5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, this is one of the few pieces where having a two-manual instrument is necessary. Incidentally, there is a different transcription of this piece on imslp, which does not require two manuals. It is not as successful in my opinion, but with the right "tweaks" it should sound good on a single-manual instrument. Perhaps you want to try it, and add a few more bass sonorities? :)

Thank you! Claudio di Veroli, who made this transcription, shared it on a Harpsichord group on Facebook, and this is how I got it. Perhaps you could contact him via his web page? (www.braybaroque.ie/harps/index.html)

Thank you! Claudio was kind enough to share this transcription with me, so I would recommend contacting him and asking him. The best way to do it is going to his website (www.braybaroque.ie/harps/index.html) and sending him an e-mail. Let me know if that works!

@@choijiwonballetclassmusic Just remove the parenthesis at the end and it will open. I just tried it :-) Alternatively, you can google his name (Claudio di Veroli) and it should be one of the first hits you get.
