In Nigeria, all the energy is focused on young girls being a good wife to men they don't even know. Right from the moment the girl child can walk, they are constantly trained in a way that makes it seeem like they can never be complete if they're not serving a man. Sisters are made to cater to their brothers like they're not all children in their parents house. The boy child on the other hand plays all the way to adulthood. Nobody teaches these boys how to become a good husband.

You see that cooking thing, anytime I come back home from uni it’s almost like I’m running mad cause my parents make it seem like the whole essence of my being is whether I know how to cook, the minute I get something wrong it’s like Haew this girl will soon spoil, Haew, we need to work on her. Omo I just tire everyday my mama dey tell me make I come taste soup, it’s just God keeping me but I really thank God for social media because everytime I say these things people around me would swear I won’t find a guy that’s domestic. Manners is manners everyone should have manners, I would go to a neighbor’s house and wash the plates I used to eat because I’m appreciative of you hosting and I would like to assist but it’s should be a general thing not a girl thing honestly.

Honestly because of how feminism has been portrayed these days by people who don’t even understand anything it just makes one want to stay away. Yet you are right that important discussions about what is really plaguing the female in our country is what is to be had. Exactly is it only by washing plate or what? In-laws scare me to be honest because it’s like the woman has to put herself in some box. We have thoughts too, ideals, values. We are WHOLE PEOPLE too.

Older generation women went through a lot and have come to accept that that's how it should be because they accepted it. So some of them strongly believe the new generation women should be the same. If we don't value ourselves as women, men won't value us. Some of ideals are rooted in a poverty mindset. He can get a private chef and a house cleaner, once he has those, "wife" would have a different meaning to him.

Even some luxury brand clothes are not of good quality anymore because they’re using cheaper materials compared to before. However, I hope you’re able to still find good quality 2nd hand clothes!
