Refurbing my dad's 2250B. Thank you for this. I jumpered the power switch years ago, but it now has a light out so i think it's time to fix it proper, including that pesky power switch. Dad would be so thrilled to know that it's still running.

My 2245 came with no power switch, (just use a pwr strip to on/off it) and I'm getting ready to install my new one that came w/a Snubber!? What's a Snubber? Anyway, Thanks for all you do for all us audio wannabes!!

Probably the best bench amp I ever had was a 2250B. Always regretted selling it. Eventually picked up another 2250B from another tech. Not quite cherry but pretty good. Complete service of course, and I really like the look with white LED's for the dial and blue LED's for the meters.

Thanks for this video. You mentioned replacing a specific transistor in the phono preamp stage. Would you be willing to share with us the original part number and the recommended new transistor please?

Have one of these and everything works perfectly except the FM doesn't have volume like it should and the stereo light doesn't come on but it is in stereo. Works for all other inputs. Have cleaned everything. Any Ideas? Thanks

Hello I have marantz 2230 I would like to clean the contact of base, mid base and etc. how can I get to it? Do I get to it from bottom of the unit?

Any chance they use that blue stuff on the screws the same way they use a wax seal on important messages or letters? Kind of like a calibration seal in order for the factory to determine whether they unit has be worked on by other hands?

The blue stuff is a light epoxy based paint. It essentially has two uses: the main use is to keep the screw from loosening, the other is for warranty purposes; if the screw is removed, the seal is broken and thus voids the warranty.

Hello. recently i acquired a pair of 2250b. One was used as a preamp, in order to that the amplifier section was disabled. I tested with a earphones and as a preamp it works fine. The second one was use only as amplifier by disconnecting (i suppose...) the 7-pin conector, because the board for tone control has no the pair of chips BA312, so, i changed the preamp board installing it in the marantz which only works as amplifier. For my suprise it did not work. I think the preamp section is disabled, but i dont know where i can start searching. I am not technician in this, i only want a marantz working good. If you wish a marantz only for amplification, what would you disconnect for that purpose? Thank you a lot

In regards to the power switch, irebuildmarantz.com has a power switch that for me anyway was pretty much drop in and ready to go. I had to buy one for my 1550. It was $10 including shipping.
