Where did you get the capacitors for this job? I’ve had the exact problem for a while now with this model Marrantz.

Bought the .047uf cap but it’s a 250vac, my original cap says 125vac. Is that an incorrect match? I put it in and still have a pop. I think it’s less, but wondering if it’s cuz those two values are off.

Higher voltage should not be an issue. I used a .047uf / 275vac safety cap.

Hi! Thanks for the video! I tried to fix the popping and exchanged capacitor 0.47 uf 275 V.. popping gone but now it won’t shut of anymore? Any hints how to solve that?

First, I'd verify that you properly installed the cap.

@@millervintagehifi3034 thanks for immediate response! It was fixed proper, couldn’t pull it of.. I soldered to the exact same spot as it was. After that I tried soldering it on top. Same issue. On what should I pay attention Beside that the capacitor will hold in place? Not a soldering pro here..

Also not a pro when it comes to capacitor.. I wonder if 0.47 uf is too much as the manual says it should be 0.047 uf… I ordered a 0.1 uf 250v will try again in a couple of days

I didn't catch that it was .47 and not .047. Gotta get the proper value in there.

Thanks! Thought so.. I will leave a comment if 0.1 uf 250 v will do the trick…

Hey! I recently just got one of these bad boys for free at a thrift shop I work at. Everything works just fine except for the needle cartridge is totally missing! It's just a metal plate with some wires leading from the tone arm. Do you have any recommendations for a replacement cartridge? I'm in the classic broke college student financial situation so something sturdy but low-priced would be welcomed. Thank you so much for the video! I also have photos if you have questions (I'm not too familiar with this tech so i may not make sense). I'd be willing to send my email if you're okay with that. Again thank you!!!

If you're strapped for cash, the Audio Technica AT 3600L is a great cartridge. You can normally buy them for under $30 from eBay or Amazon.
