Endrew, your misinformed on this. Marantz prior to selling to Phillips (1-1-1980) Marantz was already in production of this line. A relative in inherited from the junk pile had the receipt attached to a SR 4000 taped to it. sold in Ft Meyers FL on 9-27-1979. It was a blend with the old and the new. This series is the last model with the gyro tuned tuner wheel and was still designed soley by Marantz.

I like my SR 4010 in perfect condition. With nice Speaker i get a nice Sound. I like the Design more than the most okder Marantz in my collection IT is more fresh

I Would like to know your opinion on this receiver's sound quality??!! I have this receiver too and I compare it to my other older Marantz receiver and I will tell you that the older Marantz have a warmer sound and this one has some sweetness on the midrange area, kind of like Sansui would sound. Not bad at all, I actually like this receiver's sound. A lot of Marantz collectors descriminate this receiver, just because Phillips had influence on building this receiver. I am not faithful to makes, I just judge the sound and this receiver sounds very good to my ears!

most take overs are done buy companies who thought they could make more profit as the previous owners, that's often the main reason why they buy a company ore they buy it because of the technological advantage this company have, ore they need that company for there parts(tesla buy battery company) But almost every hifi audio take over in the past meant that the quality became lower. Often the owner and founder put his heart in that company but after the take over the heart part is gone what left are the calculators

Wounded Audiophile is correct, this is the last flagship model under Marantz before the Phillips takeover. Because of misinformation like what you have cited this model is still affordable in the U.S. I'm really surprised the audiophiles haven't figured out this model is superior to 2270. Great, big sound and far less ear fatigue than the older models. Honestly, I think people only like the 22xx series for the black dial and status of ownership and don't care what it sounds like. The '70s Sansui receivers have way less ear fatigue than the Marantz receivers. I'd take a Sansui over 22XX any day. JMO. "It's not a real Marantz a real Marantz sounds better". LMFAO!!! Phillips didn't buy Marantz until 1980 did Phillips design it and produce it in a couple weeks? Nope! it was designed in the U.S.A. by Marantz and was in production in Japan when Phillips purchased Marantz. All Marantz products were manufactured in Japan beginning in 1966. None of your opinions seem to be based on facts but just assumptions. "fake Marantz, lesser quality" Is having two lamps better than having eight lamps? Yes! Did that lower production costs? Yes! Did it also reduce maintenance costs? Yes! It's not a Phillips! "90, 80% from a real Marantz" maybe you should get yourself a full Nichicon recap kit and after a full service. Remake this video. Look on the back panel... pre Phillips models say "Marantz Chatsworth Ca. U.S.A. designed in U.S.A. produced in Japan" Phillips models just say "Marantz Chatsworth, Ca. U.S.A."

Currently, nothing is made here in the USA anymore. At one time everything was made here. Like all the stereos, all the televisions, most of the automobiles, etc. Our country is not what it once was.

Great Job i have 3x Marantz Whats ny 2270 sale for in your country Netherlands ? here in the U.S they went up like crazy I bought thr new Pure analog Marantz Pm 8006 !1500.00 And wow its badass ! big power supply check out my review i opened up the 80s Marantz Didn't have that Marantz warm powerful n lush sound unless you spent big money ! .

Almost every brand moved from heavy shini metal and muticolour tuner dial pointers and meters real veneer wood cases for receivers and seperates etc to this still somewhat same big boat anchor silver look, but way lighter build then the from early 70's till 1979 build style. For 2 to three years or so from 79 to see 82 this was the newer 'old' look indeed, aside the 1980 and onwards year by year more dominant slimline componets that after 1983 became exept for the most expensive component of a series in most markets way more plastic including face plates knobs and enclosures, even including the transition from silver lolo to almost exclusivly plastic light and completly black. A few year after this Philips for almost a decade dominates the global consumer high end market with there own philips and other owned by philips and affiliated and with licensing tech and designs tho 3rd party brand, withe philips complnets inventions tech formats and designs till date one can even argue!
