Marathon Key Florida!

This has been on my list for a while, Marathon Key Florida! This is an easy trip if you are anywhere in the southern half of the state or just flying through.
The approach to Marathon Airport, (MTH) couldn't be any easier. You can't miss it and there are dozens of restaurants in the area. Fuel is a bit expensive at $6.00 a gallon so plan accordingly. The staff at the airport is awesome and they are very helpful. Make sure you adjust for Density Altitude on departure.... it gets hot down there!
Have you always wanted to learn how to fly but now you are over 50? Get out there and start and learn! There are so many people in there 50's and 60's who are just starting to fly so what are you waiting for?

I just took my FAA Knowledge Written Exam. So many density altitude questions to study-thanks for showing the practical application, even by accident!

Absolutely- please watch that when you start flying on hot days .... especially with full fuel - the plane will take forever to climb and it will freak you out 🤣🤣🤣 - watch both my programs on density altitude... and it still caught me of guard ! Thanks for watching!!!

Density altitude usually doesn't affect flight much at sea level. I guess on a hot, humid day you can see some deterioration of performance!

Hello Ted 😁, I see N2214Y is going to a new home ? Now we are all wondering what’s next for you 👍✈️🤗? This Marathon trip was awesome and on my bucket list too but over a few nights staying there. Keep up the interesting flights. So how about an “RG” which look beautiful in the air with gear retracted. Blue Sky’s when you get a replacement new plane.

@@tqmx1 it sold fir 74500 - it was a very good price ... plane is in great condition and it has a lot of updates- I’m happy and so is the new owner !

@@Over50andLearningToFly wow well you soon will have lots to learn, new learning curve on maintaining an RG, faster traveling speeds to go farther✈️🤗, Ted for me it was probably the insurance increased cost that kept me in a FG. Then more spending money on fuel to travel at a slower speed. You enjoy your new RG and we all will be looking forward to see it soon here 🤓🤗✈️

2350 RPM ? Isn’t max Rpm 2700 ? A bonanza crashed and through sound recordings, the NTSB determined prop Rpm to be 300Rpm less than max. Meaning the engine wasn’t making full power. Other reasons why they crashed is they didn’t have a known abort point on the runway and were over gross weight on a shorter runway. Always have an abort plan ( say it out loud EVERY departure ) and know when you have enough runway left to come to a complete stop, know where safe off field landing spots are and know your altitude to be at before attempting a turn back to the field.

There is no Marathon Key. Marathon is a city, located on 13 of the middle keys, none of which are named Marathon Key. Marathon, Florida Keys is accurate or even just Marathon.
