Thanks Nate for all of this kick ass motivation. My surgery on my leg went well. Now it's recovery time for a couple of weeks.

when I first decided to step up from half to full marathon almost everyone said no, because "I was not a high school athlete, it's out of my league, I don't have the genetics of my running club friends who I want to be like", blah blah blah. I cant wait to prove em wrong this Sunday! #detestmediocrity

You got this ODS!!! Good luck out there, make sure you are hydrating in that race and keep your pace calm and cool in that first half...Once you get to the 20 mile mark start your attack ESPECIALLY in that last 5K. Hold the line out there and do your best. Rooting for you

Still hoping to do one marathon one day. 36 years old. I ran XC in college and I’m attempting to conquer this. I still don’t see myself as a possible marathoner…I was a 800 1600 5k or 10k guy.

You are still very young Joel. 36? I'd take it. I'm 45. You will do awesome at the marathon as you still have that muscle memory from the other events and your history of running. Keep me updated brother.

Thank you coach Nate for all the tips . I am going to be running my first marathon this December and have started preparing for it . However , I am not a fan of gels and other sugar drinks . I like to keep my insulin levels healthy and in regards to this, I am looking for low carb alternatives to energy gels. Do you have any recommendations? Ideally, I would like to follow a low carb vegetarian diet as part of my marathon training and I am hoping this will help me bring down my body fat and help me shed a few extra pounds . Thanks

No worries and appreciate the support. Just focus then on hydrating well within the race with a combination of powerade/gatorade and water without the gels. Watch your pacing in the first half and focus all your mental energy down in that last 10 kilometers. Keep me updated on your progress.
