Maratika or ‘chi ba mthar byes in Tibetan means ‘the cave that puts an end to death’, and is also known as Halesi or ‘astonishing’. This site is rich in history, mythology and sacred geology. Despite its great isolation, it is a major holy place for both Buddhists and Hindus.
