I wanted to share with you how I cover a cake in fondant. I firmly believe you should watch as many people as possible cover a cake, and test out all the ideas and techniques. This method has evolved over the years, and I find it's the fastest, and easiest way to get that sharp edge!

Materials -
* ganached 7" round cake
* fondant - 750g (1lb 10oz) White
- 45g (1.6oz) Light Pink (4 parts Americolor Electric Pink onw part Wilton Rose)
- 75g (2.6oz) Dark Pink (4 parts Americolor Electric Pink onw part Wilton Rose)
- 40g (1.4oz) Grey (Americolor Super Black)
- 20g (0.7oz) Black (Americolor Super Black)
- 60g (2.1oz) Yellow (Americolor Lemon Yellow)
- 65g (2.3) Blue/ Teal (equal parts Americolor Teal and Sky Blue)
* board to place the cake onto
* sugar or jam syrup - cake.style/2016...
* pastry brush
* large rolling pin
* cornstarch/ cornflour
* pizza cutter
* clear fondant smoother
* acetate (chocolate sheet)

if I could do this I would do it with royal purple lavender some black and white a just for a small pop of color somewhere in it I would do maybe a bright baby blue or pink. or a soft orange for contrast

I'm doing a 1930's inspired cake very clean lines and muted colors. I'm using black and white and gray. For a bit of drama I will be doing a geometric design on the bottom tier and spraying the cake with gold shimmer spray, then laying the black and gray pieces. I can't wait to see how it comes out. I will be using Fondarific fondant and OMG I love the way it smells and tastes and it works like a dream.
