Addendum Section: 1. Guys... I found a new tape in my collection 😱: twitter.com/saganhawkes/status/1483236529073897472 2. Technically not wrong, I just didn't touch on it for time's sake, but I think its worth mentioning. After Jay watches the tape that Tim was hiding from him, we later learn his first reaction wasn't to go and attack Tim. He gets lost in Rosswood Park and calls Tim to apologize, and wants to continue working together. He's attacked by the Operator, and seems to go through some sort of personality change from here. I feel like its similar to what happened to Alex, slowly making their behavior more violent. You can see this in Entry #82. 3. Apparently there's some pretty serious accusations around the creator of TribeTwelve, so I'd recommend taking those into consideration when looking at other Slenderverse creations: www.reddit.com/r/TribeTwelve/comments/is0avp/tribetwelveadam_rosner_accusations_everything_so/ To be clear, this has nothing to do with the creators of Marble Hornets, TribeTwelve and its creator are completely and totally separate.
@stanlee4ever2782 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you were going to mention that. TribeTwelve has been a personal favorite of mine for years out of the big three, so the reality of the situation with its creator is absolutely soul crushing. Its awful. I will continue to enjoy the series for what it was via Night Minds explained series on it but due to how Adam grossly misused his fame and power, its for the best that the series has been cancelled.
@readein2 жыл бұрын
Wow I actually didn't know about the accusations surrounding Adam. I've been FB friends with Troy, Tim, and Joseph since the beginning of season 2. I've had quite a few conversations with them over the years and think they're all pretty cool guys. I've seen Adam in the comments a handful of time, but never saw them react to him. I always thought it was a bit strange, but this might be why. However I might be overanalyzing because I'm not 100% sure how long these have been public knowledge and the creators don't post much at all anymore. Anyways I can't wait to watch this. I stumbled across it right before bed and can't watch it rn, but I definitely will soon. I really hope you took some details from Tim and Joseph's (separate) streams where they rewatched the series because they reveal quite a bit in them. Excited to check this out!

yeah, the creator of TribeTwelve done lots of shit. Acting creepy around the female extras for the series DarkHarvest00, openly talking about his animal fetish, his apparent vore fetish, making out with a 15 year old fan at a Con, grooming a couple underage fans, keeping NightMind from opening up about the situation, upon other things which haven't been proven(besides him grooming underage fans), but I wouldn't be suprised if they were true. this stuff was known for a while. He apparently was always creepy around female fans, and leaked messages were apparently leaked back in 2015. But no one wanted to believe it since he was such a "nice guy".

About the theory of Tim editing the Entry 76 footage, if you look at the positioning of the camera when Jessica is on the ground compared to when Tim walks in frame, it's actually a slightly different position. Idk if anyone pointed that out but I think it helps support the theory too.

I like the idea, but there's one thing that I feel like works against your theory, and that's the fact that the Operator appears on camera. Now, if the word "manifest" here meant that the Operator manifests itself physically from people having the sickness instead of just appearing in their minds, then I'd say you have a point. But what I've noticed is that people will sometimes start showing symptoms even if the Operator isn't visibly near. The opposite is also true; the Operator can appear even when nobody has shown symptoms yet. My personal theory is that the Operator is the cause of the sickness, and that he can force the symptoms upon people at will in order to weaken and eventually kill them, or have Alex kill them. There are several instances of characters seeing the Operator but not appearing to get sick, which leads me to believe that the Operator is a real entity with a real, physical form.
@cthulhluftagn38122 жыл бұрын
@@PremiumCheeses oh yes I did mean that the entity physically appears, I just meant that the operator is like a rash, the physical part of a otherwise invisible disease. It could be that trying to understand cause/effect is meaningless for things like the operator, he causes the sickness that causes him in a recursive loop with no start or end. Mystery is a big part of horror, so having questions we can never answer is a big tick in the Great horror box

As an og fan and reader of the comic continuation, I genuinely hope it doesn't end with "it was all a dream" or "it was just radioactive waste left behind in rosswood park". I hope it's an open ended conclusion that still alludes to the possibility of something cosmic or paranormal. I'd hate to have invested so much into this world that's obviously otherworldly to the real world idea that it was simply radiation poisoning.
@tridos25742 жыл бұрын
It's has to be a cosmic explanation. The operator is so otherworldly in so many ways, and he acts very lovecraftian. Like, why does it have a suit and tie? Does it have a true form? Was it there before time itself? Did it wear a suit before business suits were invented? Can it teleport or manipulate anywhere in the universe? Are there any more entities related to the operator? (EverymanHybrid had another entity which was almost as powerful as slender man. But it's in a completely different slenderverse so I don't think so) Maybe the operator is just some crazy stuff the true thing (the cosmic disease) does to make the person crazy and spread itself A paranormal, or should I say, spiritual explanation wouldn't be so good. It just doesn't fit him. A religious entity? Meh. It was all a dream? Hell no.

The Slenderverse, at least the early days of it, really set the whole indie horror/unfiction thing rolling on KZbin. I'm sure there was some stuff before it, but this was the benchmark at which things really exploded from. Not only did it serve as the inspiration for much of the current analogue horror series, but it also led to the first Slender game, which was a landmark in terms of the "Man Screams At Jumpscare" aspect of horror gaming, which not only exposed more and more people to indie horror titles, but also allowed them to reach an audience that otherwise wouldn't have much access to horror games: Kids. I'd be interested in seeing coverage of Everyman HYBRID at some point, AFAIK a lot of people consider that one to be even better, Night Mind among them. That said... talking about TribeTwelve is difficult these days. There's no denying that it was a well-made entry in the Slenderverse, and it was somewhat intertwined with Everyman HYBRID and I think also Dark Harvest, distinctly more than any of the others were tied to Marble Hornets... buuuuuut one of the creators, Adam Rosner, got outed as a paedophile in 2020, as multiple victims were finally able to come forward and share their stories. r/tribetwelve has a masterpost surrounding the event here: www.reddit.com/r/TribeTwelve/comments/is0avp/tribetwelveadam_rosner_accusations_everything_so/

TribeTwelve was an INCREDIBLE take on the Slenderverse, and the vfx used was incredible for the medium and budget. The creator is not his creation, especially when we aren’t giving him money by watching what he made.

I'm always shocked no one brings up that there's someone in the Ark group who has a feminine figure and long hair who appears in one of the videos. They're clearly not any of the main cast, so I'm guessing they're one of these characters with no screen time that the creators talked about. I really wanna see people theorize more about them.
@Shapes_Quality_Control Жыл бұрын
I believe you are referring to reused clips of Jessica. Deciphering a lot of the coded messages to me seems to reveal that totheark was quite cross with Tim for removing and hiding Jessica from the equation. totheark wished to amass a larger force capable of standing up to Alex. With Tim’s betrayal Jessica is gone and Jay is still ignorant of what exactly is going on.

Man...Marble Hornets. It feels like an ancient thing, like something that has always existed. It inspires creators in unimaginable ways...it inspires fear in us, too. The people who made Marble Hornets were (and are) geniuses.

The Marble Hornets series is something that brings a lot of nostalgia to me. It's so good and genuinely one of my favorite pieces of horror media of all time. It has a quality that feels genuine and oddly warm? Slenderman also has to be In his prime here.. It's nice to revisit it as the last time I thought about it was probably 2017.

I have a ridiculously high horror tolerance but the one thing that gets me is something that isn’t even that scary compared to other things. Being chased. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I’m slow af and would never get away or if it just makes my fight or flight kick into gear. But the scene of the man in the mask starting to chase Jay gets me every time. Same with the entity in the backrooms (Kane Pixels’ version) chasing the cameraman, the fake person in Gemini home entertainment turning and running for Jack, and the mimic running after the girl in Vita Carnis.

SO damn excited to see someone talking about this amazing work again! Truly an indie horror internet darling! Edit: just finished the whole thing and it was fucking great. :) You did a great job picking apart one of my favorite indie horror series, and I was so happy to see you talk about the comics. They are great. I hope you will talk about them more in depth when they are completed. :)

I remember watching these as a child (who was probably way to young to be seeing this kind of stuff) and just loving it. I used to be terrified of the woods because I was convinced Slenderman was out there, watching… waiting…plotting. I recently went and watched the entirety of this series last Halloween and I gotta say, watching them back to back to back doesn’t hold up as well as it did back then. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m older and know that this is fake or because the series just… isn’t very good(??) but it certainly is propped up in my memory due mostly to nostalgia. Still a great watch though, better than most “horror” videos KZbinrs pump out nowadays.

I wanna correct something people interpret wrongly imo. The Operator is not a "separate entity" from Slenderman; that implies both exist. The Operator is just one incarceration of Slenderman, just as there are limitless incarcerations of Superman.

I watched the entirety of the Marble Hornets series the day right before my first day of 6th grade. I had one of those multi-bulb flexible gooseneck lamps sitting in my room and when I opened my eyes at night and saw it I thought it was Slenderman with his tentacles out and freaked out for a second. My mom was so mad at me for not being able to sleep.

Thank you for this video, I was a creepypasta tween back in the day and would always see the term "marble hornets" and proxy thrown around but I was too English-illiterate to fully grasp anything. (Plus my AdHd brain would've gotten frustrated trying to follow such a scattered narrative). It's nice being able to put together where Masky and Hoodie came from (and find out so much about Slendy himself)

This was a great episode. I love your videos man, and as a big fan of MH myself, this just reminded me of times when I couldn’t wait til the next episode dropped. That feeling could never be replicated, but I will say, the edits you made in your sections of the video came pretty damn close to replicating that feeling. They were pretty spot on to how MH used to edit their videos, which isn’t seen often these days. Especially in the analogue horror series coming out these days. Nice one 👍🏻

I followed and watched Marble Hornets as it was coming out and always recommended it to others to watch for an immersive horror experience. It was, at least for me, always just on the edge of being real, believable. The acting sometimes gave it away, but that's pretty much it. I was captivated by the story and the mystery of it, the locations they filmed in and the effects and interactions with other media (totheark and even some twitter posts). As a total fan of found footage horror, it's a staple for me right along with the Blair Witch Project. This video was awesome. I had forgotten a lot of what happened and as the posts became less frequent I lost track of the story at times so this was a great summary and retrospective. Thank you!

I remember when I got into creepypasta and learned about Marble Hornets, I binge-watched the whole series. Then I've learned about EveryoneHYBRID and TribeTwelve, and tried to watch those two. Frankly, I managed to catch up to EveryoneHYBRID (which required me to follow the timeline on their Wiki to know what video, tweet or tumblr post watch next), but I never got into TribeTwelve because the timeline on their Wiki was incomplete. Truly Marble Hornets were the most simple of Slender-related webseries.

This video is really good, probably one of the best MH retrospectives I've seen. It's crazy to think how much this webseries did for the internet yet how little you hear about it these days. Your skits also made me realize how much I missed the feeling of watching a new entry. And yeah, we don't talk about Always Watching, that movie was created by people who didn't even watch the series nor consulted the creators that were right there and ended up with a contradictory story with respect to the series lore. The only good things about the movie were Doug Jones and a couple of references to the series (like the Alex Kralie's missing poster). A couple of things I want to add. Through various interviews and panels the creators sort of implied that the third TTA member was going to be Jay's masked state (that we briefly saw during Entry 26, but who was a way bigger presence on the Twitter side of the story), dubbed Skully. It would make sense when you think about it, with how TTA was able to know everything about Jay and also why after Brian's death the channel stopped, but they kind of retconned it with the comic I guess (but it's still going so who knows). Also, they sort of implied that the intended ending was Tim killing Jessica and then ending his life, however, just like with Skully, they retconned that. I can't really say that I like these retcons, but oh well.
