He speaks english pretty well, but his accent and pronounciation are terrible. That, to me, is kinda weird, because for example, i would not be able to speak so fluently the whole video, but i have much better english accent and pronounciation. On the other hand, i dont mind his style of speaking. I can actually understand the words better, than i understand american/british speakers:)

Liam Thorpe i've done diety as america, sorry i fail to see your point which i've seen across youtube in plenty of videos. Why does everyone seem to hate the american civ?
@goclbert9 жыл бұрын
NetherPrime Minutemen are cool and all but but that is about all America has going for it. Sure purchasing tiles at half price is nice but it isn't anything game changing. They got worse with the release of the Shoshone who just have a far better version of America's ability.
@Birkarl_9 жыл бұрын
NetherPrime people dont hate it, its just plain out bad. or not as good as the ones marbo listed here.
@NetherPrime9 жыл бұрын
goclbert Thank you.
@FatManTap9 жыл бұрын
NetherPrime The America civ is not as good as most other civs because it's fairly vanilla. Its two unique units are just slightly stronger versions of normal units which aren't as much of an upgrade as Keshiks, Longbowmen or Janissaries for example. Its ability is not as useful as most other civs' abilities and, as goclbert says, it's just a worse version of the Shoshone's ability. Washington isn't bad, he just doesn't add much to the base civilization, meaning that he's one of the less desirable civs. Unlike the Iroquois, who are literally worse than the base civ because of their unique building

30:10 Just one thing, the Siege Tower is a replace for catapults, not trebuchets. After many games/wins, I think one of the best civs on deity wins too is England, 2 spies is just insane to catching up in techs, and Longbowman is just too good for the medieval push, u can get 1 or 2 capitals and then upgrade them all the way to bazookas. And do I have to mention Ships of the line?. :) Good vid Marbs, keep the great work!

Luis Callirgos Yeah, you're right about the Siege Tower. As for England, it's one of the stronger choices for sure - if I were to redo this video, I would've at least mentioned them briefly.

Thank you for the amazing explanation. I'm looking forward to the next one(s), even though I'm just starting to get into King and Emperor difficulty this comes in really handy. I love strategy games, but I usually find myself losing quite easily (and stupidly) because I can't really seem to concentrate and get bored easily. I stopped playing for a bit, but I recently started watching your videos again (X-Com especially) and either Civ 5 and X-Com are getting easier or I'm getting better :) I find myself thinking a lot more about the decisions I make and while I thought it would take the fun out of the game because it would take some time to weigh all the possible options, I'm having way more fun, so thanks!

I'm gonna have to play a few random civ 1v1 Deity games on the basegame (19 civs with Mongols), but my Impressions on the best basegame civs are French (faster social policies and don't have to worry about getting city tiles) and Egyptians (build the Great Library faster, get even more satisfaction from their temple replacement). In my build order, I recommend: - Opening with Tradition and staying on 1 city - Building the Great Library before turn 50 (doesn't work against China, Germany, or Egypt, in that case you've got a pretty bad matchup) - Using the free technology to unlock Civil Service - this will unlock 1 extra Food from any Farm built near a River - Building the National High School, then starting to care about Settlers - Following up with Piety. While science is important, satisfaction is more critical for early expansion, and Piety unlocks 2 satisfaction per city if you build the culture Buildings So far this works for me on Immortal and got me healthy in the middle of a Deity 1v1 on Tiny. In the Deity game, I was lucky to get French.

A few things I would add here. 1. to really take advantage of Arabia and Mongolia's unique units build chariot archers early, which are cheap and easy to build, and then pay gold to instantly upgrade them to the unique units upon discovering chivarly. This is normally not a good idea with other civs because chariots upgrade to knights and also lose the usefulness of any ranged promotions. However, with Arabia and Mongolia because they upgrade to ranged units instead of knights the chariots are a great early unit to build. Normally you would build archers or comp bows but not with these civs. 2. England can be very strong on deity. Their unique units are both amazing. The longbows having extra range means you can attack cities from beyond city shot range, and also can attack opposing units that cannot attack back. With the right terrain this ability can be overpowering. Also the ship of the lines are incredible naval units. A few of them can wipe out entire enemy fleets due to the massive ranged attack power. Combined with the +2 movement for all their ships, coastal cities don't stand a chance vs England. Lastly them getting an extra spy means you can steal twice as many technologies. This really helps catch up with the AI on deity. 3. Don't forget to bribe the AIs to fight each other early. You need them to not come after you for the first 100-150 turns while you are trying to catch up. Also early caravans or cargo ships can really help your science since the AIs will be anywhere from 5-10 technologies ahead of you for the first 100-200 turns. 4. whenever possible, try to take a worker from your nearest AI neighbor to slow them down.(and to save yourself using production time building one) If all you do is take the one worker and make peace soon after, its almost like nothing ever happened. They will often even ask for friendship declaration soon after. If you kill a bunch of their units or settle a city right on top of them their attitude will not be as friendly though. 5. I like to take at least 1 worker from a city state preferably not cultured or mercantile. You can leave the war open and take multiple workers if you wish, but usually 1 city state worker plus one AI worker is enough at the beginning. It can also be useful to leave the war open to farm experience for ranged units (especially if they will later be upgraded to a unique unit) Be sure to not declare war on any city state for a 2nd time, including the one you stole a worker from, or you will permanently lose influence with some city states and any new ones you meet after the 2nd war declaration will not give you any gold upon first contact.

England seems insane to me. One extra spy usually means 3 or even more extra technologies and catching up with te IA is the most important part of the game. Ship of the line are stupidly broken having 2 extra movements and +5 combat power being able to wipe out a coastal capital which usually means game over for the IA. The longbow is pretty decent to defend yourself. I don't know but I think that England is tier 1 for sure.
