Wow, this is so tragic indeed. I was a fan of Dayle Haddon when she was a famous model for then Max Factor cosmetics. She was everywhere! She was the true face of that very popular cosmetics company for years. And I recall her son-in-law, Marc Blucas when he acted in the movie First Daughter with Katie Holmes and Michael Keaton, the son-in-law played Holmes’s love interest and a new Secret Service agent. Nice movie. So sorry for the loss of Dayle Haddon.

The carbon minoxide alarms cost about $30 and last for many years, check periodically. Sad story.

Last year, the heater's air handler, at an apt I rented, broke. An alarm went off. I thought it was a cheap plug in monitor, so it was likely defective. After resetting it 2-3 times, I called non emergency police line. They sent my call to Fire Dept. They asked me to wait outside of the unit. I had only been inside 10-15 minutes, but exposure had already affected my brain. The stars in the sky looked like they were bouncing. The Fire Dept showed up and did a reading in each room, and it came out positive for C.M. The unit and heater was about 40 years old.

My 30 yr old son passed from an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning in his home in 2018. This can happen to anyone. Make sure you have detectors in your home. And take one with you when you travel!

My furnace shut off and refused to start. Had the gas company come out and discovered a rusted out flue and vents. Seems the furnace had a warning shut off. Saved my life. Had to get a whole new furnace and venting system.
