Tragic that Marc would be gone only 4 years after this performance. There’s a sweet purity to the duet with just the acoustic guitar. Marc such an icon of the time with effortless cool. Maybe he could have been as big as Bowie, we’ll never know. Bowie recalled their first conversation as rivals in the pop music industry “We looked each other up and down and Marc said ‘your shoes look shit’, I immediately liked him”.

i saw cilla black on some programme or other a few years ago when she was talking about her career and she said this was one of the highlights and she actually still had the feather boa. she seemed very sincere and it was quite moving.

i'm old enough to remember this when it was on tv originally - and remebering noticing he had changed 'priestess' into 'princess' in the lyric. Great performance of a great song from his best album 'Electric Warrior'.
@whitebirchtarot2 жыл бұрын
When I first sad this I wondered if they asked him to change the word for religious reasons or some thing. Perhaps they thought the word priestess would offend some people. I’m sure he didn’t change it of his own accord. Beautiful song. I’ve always loved it.

who's knocking her? all we have today are Auto Tuned no talent clones, the ignorant arseholes who give negative feedback do not even know what an actual live performance is. Cilla transformed from a pop singer to a legend because the tv audiences got it, she was human and they wanted to have her perform in the living rooms week after week. Marc Bolan way too early for his time, Marc and T Rex could have so easily slotted the decades after his tragic death. Cilla and Marc both missed R.I.P

People here are knocking Cilla, but Burt Bacharach seemed to think she was pretty swell. And when you hear her sing his tunes, you really can't blame him. This, admittedly, is more novel than anything. But it's still 'Life's a Gas' and that's still a-ok with me. RIP CILLA! RIP MARC!

Marc Bolan was so far ahead of the flow. Life's a Gas was so cool the first time I heard it. The twist to the lyrics is "I could have"___ I could have loved you, girl, like a planet I could have chained your heart to a star But it really doesn't matter at all No it really doesn't matter at all Life's a gas I could have built a house on the ocean I could have placed our love in the sky But it really doesn't matter at all No it really doesn't matter at all Life's a gas I could have turned you into a priestess I could have burned your fate in the sand But it really doesn't matter at all No it really doesn't matter at all Life's a gas But it really doesn't matter at all No it really doesn't matter at all Life's a gas I hope it's going to last But it really doesn't matter at all No it really doesn't matter at all Life's a gas
