I agree with ooohcheese 1973 the best year for music EVER, TRex, Bowie as Ziggy, Slade, Sweet, Alice Cooper al dominated the singles charts but also remember Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield and Band on the Run by Wings presided over the album charts ongoing for years. 1973 - in my opinion the best ever!

Beautiful scrapbook! I remember seeing him play in Oct. 1971. "Electric Warrior" tour. I was 14 years old. The girls didn't swoon over him in America as they did in England. There was no "T. Rexstacy" as American girls were hippies who had already burned their bras. Alice Cooper got me ready for the glam thing, so that didn't bother me and really T. Rex was not overly glam. Just the jackets. They sounded "heavy"! When they ended with Get IT ON, he "Got 'Em"! Never seen anything like it before or since. I have almost every available recording and demo I can get my hands on today. I had my own popular band that played all over Europe and elsewhere. I spent those years collecting the Bolan odds and ends. For a little guy, He walked TALL! Beautiful video here!

Toyah is married to Robert Fripp, who has collaborated with many greats as well as being a talented musician in his own right - Toyah herself is exuberant in her performances & where she lacks vocal excellence she makes up for in enthusiasm, Marc was the real deal, he presented the world with visions of past & future - he spanned so many Genres in his short carrier & mixed stuff up to the max - CompactJam you really don't have a clue about music and stardom if you'll write off Bolan so easily

@coltsuperocean10 You're so wrong, Marc influenced Oasis, Lily Allen, Goldfrapp, the Ramones, Adam Ant, Marc Almond and too many more to list (These are just a few people who are on record as saying Marc influenced them ) BTW , The Beatles even considered T.Rex as their successors (on record) Bolan was more than the few singles which people know. Ask David Bowie what he thinks of Marc Bolan or Elton John. - Then again maybe you know more about music than any of them!

Elton John seems to play piano on get it on because he was at the top of the pops gig he and Marc were good friends But it was Rick Wakeman who actually played the piano part on the single Rick was simply walking up the road Marc was passing and called out to him to ask if he'd like to play on 'get it on' Rick was doing nothing so agreed - I understand he thought any piano player could have done what he was asked to do I think he was paid £50 although I imagine he may have got more now

Idiot, you even spell his name two different ways, T-Rex and Marc Bolan was a worldwide star and the King of Glam rock, he had a dozen hits or more over a ten year career, about 10 top 10s, and 4 number 1s, the only place he wasn`t that famous was the USA,(they didn`t deserve him), tying to be a clever troll, but everything you type is utter shit, he is nothing like Chesney Hawks, musically, legacy, talent, innovation, genre leading, chart success, 8 years later, are you still an utter tit?
