Does "clipping" just means the lower frequencies were being clipped or cut off?

Nope! Clipping means his instrument input level was too overwhelming therefore overdriving the amp(in a bad way) which is taxing and eventually damaging to the entire system and causes distortion where it shouldn’t be. Basically the signal he was feeding the amp was louder than the amplifier is comfortable with so it tries to compensate but can’t which leads to all your good stuff, all your lowend and clarity and headroom dissapearing.

Oh I see what you’re saying now. Sorry l misunderstood but yea basically in the most general sense except it’s not just loss of low end it’s loss of clarity and power and tone and everything it should normally be doing

You’re thinking of a high pass filter, which is normal and good if that’s the sound you are going for. Clipping is distortion, but it can damage amps and speakers because it is the system trying to push harder than it physically can causing excess heat.

If you are just playing bass from the Moog, then I'd go with the Minitaur module or the sub37.

10 inch speakers can only do so much with the low B on a 6 string at loud stage volumes, there's a reason you don't see jam band bassists playing SVTs into ampeg fridges.

@@methyod the clipping is less likely a headroom issue and more gain staging. For Pete’s sake, he’s using an EQ to boost bass, because it “sounds warmer,” when he can get the same effect rolling back the treble knob on his bass .
