The commitment Marc has to a bit is amazing. When he fires back with the "Yes!" you can just see him locked in and fighting back laughter.

I don't think it was a bit. He had no punchline there, it looks like he just got worked up, the other person in conversation broke the tension and he laughed and made a dismissive joke.

You are wrong, how did you come upon this video if you are clearly not a fan of Marc Maron? Because if you were, you would understand he uses hyperbolic anger and commitment to a bit to convey his humor. Its clearly what he's doing there shown by the line "he's a pathological narcissistic freak, or am I reading into it?" Sure he has a distain for his father but is using that to be funny as a bit, not actually getting emotional. The "Yes" is funny to me because its just in response to Paul asking a very basic question so he gives a one word answer. Garry gets annoyed too when Paul is asking leading and surface level questions, where is the comment about his emotional outburst?

Well thats the thing, you aren't stating an opinion. You commented on my own enjoyment of this video and felt the need to contradict my opinion of it. You were the one that got triggered, I'm the one defending my opinion. Aside from that I do make a living doing stand up, I see comedy and am around comedians every night. As much as I would love for you to define paradoxical without googling it, I don't think we could prove that. I'm not saying there isn't genuine, truthful things talked about here but to tell me that Marc is having a emotional break on this episode is not giving his sardonic humor justice.

He was an up-and-coming wunderkind, one of the first comics to find success outside the traditional “paying your dues” route. He represented the future of comedy, for better or worse. Bo was looked down on by older comics for doing songs instead of pure stand-up, and for skipping the “legitimate” route of busting your ass and eating shit on the road for years to earn success. More enlightened comics like Shandling saw promise in him, understanding that times change whether you like it or not. The internet was making the old ways of working clubs, getting on TV, doing late night talk show spots, etc obsolete. So I think Bo was there as the new blood among the old guard, and to spark conversation or debate about the nature of his success. Also to boost viewership by attracting his huge audience of (then) young people, who otherwise generally wouldn’t care about a bunch of old ‘80s and ‘90s comedians shooting the shit.

I'm sure Paul Provenza is a nice guy, and I hate to talk shit, but he's so much less funnier than his guests yet seems like he thinks he's right there. Every episode I watch I kinda wish he wasn't there. Sorry Paul.
