This song was written by lead guitarist Brian May for the soundtrack to the film "Highlander" (1986). He wrote the song after seeing a 20-minute first cut of the scene of Heather MacLeod's death. The orchestrations were done by the co-composer of the film's score, Michael Kamen. Freddie Mercury provides all the main vocals on the film version of this track, while Brian May sings lead vocals on the first verse with Mercury on the rest of the song on the album version. An instrumental version of the song, titled "Forever", was included as a bonus track on the CD version of the album. It features only a piano, with keyboard accompaniment during the chorus sections. That piano track was recorded solely by Brian May. The music video was filmed in a warehouse at Tobacco Wharf at London's East End in September 1986. The song was was later used in some of the episodes of the "Highlander" television series.

Me and my wife loved the movie Highlander and Queen's soundtrack of it. Owned the cassette back in the day. We wanted to live forever just so we could always be together. Now I listen this alone with tears pouring. She passed away 2 months ago on Jan 3 2019. My soulmate is now an angel. One days we'll be together forever. Until then I will be alive but not live.

@@MickayG if you listen to Freddie in concerts, he seldom sings falsettos, hits high notes or even attempts, say what he does in Under Pressure. Even at Wembley he doesn't hit or attempt high notes. Martel's voice and range is stronger than Freddie's, but I believe it is because Freddie often "overdid it." Not enough sleep, too much partying, and straining his voice to the point of damage.

Let's be honest here, guys: Not even Freddie could sound exactly like the record when he performed this song, but Marc can. Freddie had the charisma, he was the ultimate front-man, but Marc Martel has the live vocal abilities that even Freddie couldn't keep up with. Both are great in each way, but we will never see another Freddie Mercury again, so let's appreciate the fact that we still have Marc Martel to keep his memory and music alive.

He doesn't perform all over Canada, unfortunately. Mainly in the province of Quebec. He performs more in the US, and has toured many, many countries. Right now he's on a six-concert tour in South America.
