Fantastic reaction. It's easy to get caught up in Chinchilla's impressive vocals and miss all the intricacies of the interplay between them both. It's less a push & pull dynamic and more of a dance, each stepping up into the space the other's making for them, then pulling back to pass that space back. Combined with the brittleness, it's like watching them dance on a tightrope. Absolutely fascinating to watch, and I enjoyed your attention to the small adjustments they keep making, as well as your sensitive accompaniment.

This is my favorite song by Ren. I can't believe I've never checked out Chinchilla until seeing her collabs with Ren. I knew she was an up-and-coming UK singer, and she'd toured with Sting, but I didn't know how remarkable she was. Mental illness and drug addiction go hand in hand. My husband and I lost a daughter to both at age 38. Her heart no longer would allow it. That was 8 years ago, last week. I am 65 years old but feel so much heart and emotion to REN'S music. He is a musical GINIUS, no doubt. I listen to him all day and try to get others I care about to listen. I think he can help a lot with his spoken word style and his songs. He is a master of the human condition, but unable to reach enough people just yet. His time in now. And I love that people do listen. He needs to listen to his small still voice and we will hear from him, God willing, for yea4s to come. REN...do the least amount of drug possible. The right Dr will fix you. We all have our demons. Don't believe what the lies say. You know what to do. I watch you do it flawlessly. Your music is perfect just as it is. Don't let the money and voices change you. You are one of the greats ! Hang on to that.

Nice piano accompaniment fella. The studio version begins with Ren playing cello, (superbly re-enacted by Ren and Chinchilla vocally in this live version). Ren is undergoing treatment for Lyme disease in Canada for probably another 4 -5 months so is unlikely to be announcing any live dates soon. He is, however, releasing a brand new track on 29th March on his birthday.

I don't know how many reactions I've watched to 'How to be me' at this stage, but I can tell you this one was unique. You're the first reactor I've seen who actually *added* something to the song. I absolutely loved you jamming along on the piano for a second run-through. And your musical insight was very enlightening - I knew the harmonies were amazing, but it's nice to have someone explain how and why they are amazing. Joe Hughes jumped off the Menai Bridge in Wales. Ren’s album Freckled Angels is dedicated to Joe and a restaurant in Menai is also called The Freckled Angel in tribute. Joe’s body has never been found. Rip 😢

He still has, at this point around 3 months of treatment to try to counteract the organs damage from the lyme disease. Then he will need some recovery time from the treatment i imagine. So i would surmise July at the earliest

As I'm sure you've been told already, he's unlikely to be touring for a while as he's in hospital in Canada getting mad treatment for his (originally mis-diagnosed) Lyme Disease. There were rumours of him playing Glastonbury, but that seems very unlikely. If his treatment is successful, then who knows what will happen. If he tries busking in Brighton again, there will be utter chaos.

So was not a huge fan of the way you were pausing during the initial reaction. I know the "reactor pauses too much" is a meme. But I felt you really killed most of the momentum that makes certain sections of the song powerful. I would suggest rewinding and letting the full section play after chopping it up with your insights. You did save it for me though with the piano addition at the end. Well done. :)

Thanks. I appreciate your comments, I like to do it this way as a reaction because a genuine reaction happens as I watch and disecting the song requires this. I feel if i watch the whole thing through, then go back its then a discussion rather than reacting. Absolutely agree with you. These two have a connection unspoken. To have this ability to be able to know what another person is feeling, thinking and where they’re coming from is something that we may be losing as a species. Shame.
