Ah Marc - that classical training, however brief, really paid off. Really nice arrangement. He always rethinks things in an intelligent way.

what an amazing composition! My favourite guitarrist!

A truly unique player. He's got so much technique but never grandstands, far more interested in creating a landscape than showing off. Gotta love the guy, most other guitarists certainly do too.

I love this version. Lovely and soulful.

He was the guitar highlight of the Montreal Jazz fest this last summer. No one else touched him. The dynamic and stylistic range he presented (was in on the Masada Marathon) was INSANE! Plus kickin' with Allen Toussaint southern blues... just lights out after him. Though an eighty-year old pianist out played him overall. Ahmad Jamal is a MONSTER, still! His trio? woah...

Anyone coming to see Marc Ribot in Coventry next week? ...it's his only UK date of the solo tour. I'm for it ...and interested in any other fans who might be going. Any takers?

lennon's work was way underappreciated even by beatle-level adulation.....and ribot and his amazing musicianship pays perfect respect to the tune.

I think it's an Audition. He tunes it down about a third, and god knows what else to get the sound.

@danlovesnan Check out how he doesnt look at the neck almost at all. Hes connecting to somthing, hes playing from his heart. Thats why he sells albums.

@szekelymihai Well it depends what you mean by improvisation: some of it is improvised but it follows the "cover" that he recorded on his album "Saints".

I see it. Also I think that what they might lack in finesse they make up with feel. Side note - yesterday I came across another Fahey comparison. If you haven't seen, search "Mississippi John Hurt You got to Walk".

I think it's a fender starcaster from the 70's the guitarists from radiohead and death cab use 'em.

Does anyone happen to have a transcription of this? I'm skeptical, worth a shot though.

does this guy remind anyone else of John Fahey? Kinda just his stage presence, and they way they both seem to 'will' their music out of their guitar? and also the darker tonalities?
@santos76414 жыл бұрын
@szekelymihai it sounds like an improvisation on the Beatles' song
@ehaber19716 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly, that is what I mean. I'll check out the Mississippi John Hurt . .

@danlovesnan Point taken, you dont have to like him, im not really like a huge fan either, I went to one concert, and It was really good. I just have alot of respect for anyone that can make money in music. If they can do it while being themselves, and playing the music thats in their heart well then, its the best thing in the world.

and "Audition" I think. I believe an old Japanese brand not too dissimilar from the likes of Silvertone et al. IT's got mojo.
