Been a big fan of Ribot for a long time, but this new album seems like a disappointingly trite artistic statement, signalling that his days as a relevant player are clearly behind him. Donating a "portion" of funds to a partisan activist group also just proves how assblasted he is about the situation. He could donate that money to any number of causes, but instead chooses a group that does not have the best interests of the people they claim to fight for at heart. I'd pirate this album if it was worth listening to just to avoid condoning that bonehead move alone. Just a Canadian observer, with no real support for Trump, but this Trump Derangement Syndrome that a big portion of the arts world is suffering from is causing their work to suck balls.

Considering the utter LACK of protest music coming out of the Toilet States of America, this is a fair enough statement, even if it sounds like hippy dippy folk stuff. Where are Artists Against Israel for fuck sake?. When you have Fatty Little Steven, the mastermind of Artists Against Apartheid, being pro Israel which is the same as being pro-Trump, you really see who is on which side of the fence these days. And protest for the environment is always transcendent. So go back to yer Loverboy records.
