Su Bingtian was celebrating that strongly because not only did he break the Asian record, he proved a stereotype in sprinting wrong; that East Asians couldn’t run under 9.85. He achieved this 9.84 after all his tremendous efforts including completely re-learning sprinting by changing starting legs and training hard to still improve after his golden age. I’m contrast, Jacobs had almost the perfect form for sprinting plus some of the best training in the world, with long legs and a relaxed body, which made his European record not even surprising as he knew he could run faster. But Su knew that that was the mission he had to complete, and after working on this for over a decade, finally achieving it gave him this enormous triumph.

@@johnnwako2488 This is a very common misconception. You would be right if the human body had a fuel tank like a car. However, we have a very limited energy reserve, so it's all about deciding whether you want to win the start, slow down in the middle and lose or whether you want to distribute the race with higher precision, like Jacobs, and win. There is no such thing as speed endurance from 60 to 100. It all comes from the efficiency of your acceleration and switching gears (advanced skill). @The Way to Win I have a question regarding Jacobs. I'm not an expert on sprinting, but isn't the fact that his times on the 60m are so consistent an indication that neither of those times are close to his peak? I can't imagine peaking every time, so it seems to me more like a "normal" time for him, maybe because it's still early in the season. But as I said I'm not an expert, so maybe it's different in sprinting. What do you think? Could my analysis be correct, or I missed the mark on this one? Thanks for the video btw, it was amazing.

If you’ve run at a peak speed of 40kph then you may not have sustained that for the 10 metres that elite sprinters’ speeds are based upon. Bolt’s 44.7kph peak speed (27.78mph) is an average of his fastest split, which if I recall rightly was 1.61sec over 20metres.

Imo its the super spikes allowing for new sprinting mechanics that changed the game. Elaine also did the same thing as him in the womens 100m (accelerated till 80m) and was also based in italy prior to the olympics, they got things down in italy.

Why don't super spikes make everyone equally fast?
@ffvgaming37352 жыл бұрын
@@TheWayToWin how many athletes significantly lowered PB's in 2020/2021 ?so many sub 9.9s for the men especially. I don't believe they automatically make an athlete faster but in my opinion allow for more refined running mechanics (less energy lost on ground contact=easier to accelerate=slower deceleration). Look at Shelly for example, at 34 she's past her physical prime but was able to PB (she even spoke in an interview about the mechanics of sprinting changing/evolving). If the super spikes made no difference they wouldn't be banning them post paris. I want to see a study/comparison to be sure though to put a number on it, but the widespread improvements in sprinting times points to it. The only way we'll know for sure is post-ban if times drop across the board.
@TheWayToWin2 жыл бұрын
@@ffvgaming3735 Shelly-Ann runs noticeably better now than she did in her so-called prime.
