I'm very happy to present my arrangement and publication of Alessandro Marcello's famous Concerto in D minor, originally for oboe and strings. Available through Les Productions d'Oz
productionsdoz.com/product/38...
This arrangement draws heavily upon J.S. Bach's adaptation of this concerto for solo harpsichord BWV 974.
Please Enjoy!

Their faces are so relaxed and their fingers move so naturally, so there is no tension in their playing and the music is so fluid. To play this well, the vibration of the strings must resonate with the vibration of their souls. Thank you.

@@freefree7883 The Marcello-Bach concerto is in the usual three movements of an Italian instrumental concerto. Here they are: 1. unmarked (Allegro assumed), 2. Adagio, 3. Presto. The shell of the first movement is very clearly Marcello's work; but Bach is quick to thicken the lean, open textures of the original -- at the center of the movement things grow very dense indeed, with imitative, hand-against-hand sixteenth notes building up to eight-voice chords. The Adagio has a limber solo line atop steady eighth notes, while the Presto finale is a 3/8 time romp in near-continuous sixteenth notes, and almost exclusively in two contrapuntal voices.

Simply sublime! The second (adagio) movement transports one to a better world. As a guitarist, I often find myself paying attention to the technique more than the music itself. But Henderson and Kolk’s command of their instrument is such that I can actually relax and let the music move me. I never once cringed at a tortured phrase or minor mistake. There were none! Listening to Henderson is a lot like listening to my old favorite-Christopher Parkening.

Stunning, precision and beauty. I've never heard such tight well tuned guitars. Some moments were transcendental

Good recording technicians. I think they did a beautiful job. Same for camera and the overall sobriety of the production.

Yeah, I really hope so too. This is what art is at its best, not the so called "modern" one now

this is the only real music that associates with nature, real life. When I hear classical music I imagine nature, space, something real . Learning solfeggio from zero, 25 y.o. Feel myself like a kid.

Allan: Which “new generation” would that be? The one following Bach in the 17th century, or one of the dozen or two “generations” since, lol.

A. Marcello's oboe concerto was so attractive to everybody, even the greatest composer ever lived was so impressed with it that he made a transcription of it.

The Largo is a perfect example why Bach is absolutely timeless. Inventive melodies, perfect composition, everything in its place. Soothes the mind AND the heart. Great interpretation here!
