If it catches fire I can contain it to the stainless sink, it would still be a mess though. I also charge small lipos real slow, so it won't overheat and catch fire. RC batteries I charge outside, they are much bigger and can cause some damage.

i have had to do this more times than i care to admit. never with a phone, but with drained solar cell batteries, or any other cell that was completely discharged & wont take a smart recharge. a good RC charger is worth having, especially if you have an alligator clamp connection. like a TB6B

A few times I have had smaller Lipo batteries that were just under the voltage the charger would not recognize them to charge them, so I slow charged them on my RC NICAD charger just enough to get the voltage up to use the correct Lipo charger.
