Hello. I am really glad I found your channel. I have just purchased my first machine. It is a J2L. As far as I can tell it is from about 1948 because it has all red controls. I changed the power cord and was able to do one load before the motor burned out. Fortunately, everything else seems to work as it should except for an oil leak where you drained it on your machine, I am planning on attempting to fashion a gasket to correct that. Do you happen to have a part number for a motor? The one I took off is an A7595. I don't know if it was clockwise or counterclockwise in rotation, that seems to be an important thing to know as I look at newer motors. Also, will 90 weight oil work in mine as in yours? How much to put in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Instead of a new gasket for the thrust bearing use some thread tape that should stop the oil leak. The new motor can go in one way only I think motors turn in one direction. I put in about ten ounces of 90 weight gear oil in the power unit. I bought mine on eBay the motor my motor went out in mine too but that was all that went out in it I hope this helps you. Let me know if I can help you with anything else. Tim

I have an idea why don't you take your motor in to a repair shop that does motors they can rebuild it or maybe they will have a good used one for sale. I just happened to be on eBay that day and saw mine and he only had 2 left I lucked out. Tim
