March 2019 Budget | Aja Dang

I'm Aja Dang and this is my March 2019 budget. I've accomplished 2/3 of my savings goals using my Qapital app. Somni was the BEST dining experience ever and I'm so glad I was able to save up for it. It was very expensive but having an intention and saving for a couple months to afford it was worth the wait. Even though I don't go super in depth about how I saved up to achieve my sinking funds goal, I've linked a couple videos for you to check out at the top of this video.
The final goal I need to accomplish is getting our dogs teeth cleaned. This is the most expensive sinking fund goal I've set for my self since last year but we are $200 away! (Brian and I are jointly saving for it)
Other than that, February was a pretty good month for me. Saving up for things I wanted to do really helped me stay on budget. Hopefully march will be JUST as good!

Hey all! Just wanted to thank you all for your honest opinions. I ask you questions bc I'm truly interested in what you have to say. It seems like most of you would be turned off by having #ad in the title, and even though I'm a content creator, it would turn me off too. It's mandatory by all brands to have disclosure in the description box (some even require verbal confirmation in the video) so you can always check my description box to see if a video is sponsored. That being said, I really like some ideas some of you had: 1) having time codes of the sponsored content in the description box and 2) if an entire video is sponsored (versus just a mention in a video) I'll put #ad in the title so you all know. That being said, I tend to stay away from fully integrated branded content, just bc it makes it harder to talk about things that I find important.

I’d watch a video with or without #ad, but you could add with what product or company. Because personnaly, when I watch a video with ad in the tittle, I always think, in my mind, that the whole thing and every single product mentionned is sponsored. Or at the wery least, put a mention that the video is an add, at the very top of the info box. I really appreciate when content creators are honest like that instead of "hidding" the mention of an add at the very end of the info box below a video

I would watch your videos with or without #ad! i love your honesty and transparency in all the videos you do. People are really iffy about sponsored videos but if done in a tasteful manner, it shouldn't be a problem. All of the dyson airwrap videos are an example of not tasteful.

Ads in the title would hinder me from watching but if I find it in the description of the video as the first sentence I don’t mind. Not sure why that is because I have no problems with creators having sponsorships (might be one of the few haha)

Agreed. I don't think it would matter much to me BUT I think most people would prefer you keep it just in the description box and clarify what the ad is for, especially if you've integrated it into the blog more naturally and it's not apparent. You don't need to say it in the video, either, so long as it's in the description box at the top. This is more so you don't get in trouble w/ regulatory committees about disclosing sponsored content (at least for me). Otherwise, you do you and get those bills.

I agree. I think it's just because ad has such a negative connotation. I'm fully aware that there's tons of advertising happening on KZbin and I don't take issue with it at all but to actually be like "ahh let me sit down and watch this ad for xyz" is unappealing.

I tend to not click on videos that have a title #ad. It's just a thing where if I see it, I am just turned away subconsciously. I like the fact that youtubers say in videos "today's video has been sponsored by ..." or "thanks to ... for supporting this video". That makes me feel better and makes me almost always hit the like button. When I see that youtubers are trying to sneak an ad in there without explicitly saying it's an ad, I feel like they're trying to deceive me. In that case, I almost always skip ahead or even just close out the video. I much prefer showing transparency; when I feel like a youtuber is being genuine, it influences me to be more active in their community.

#Ad in the title is okay if the whole video is an ad. If it is just a segment of the video, just put #Ad on the screen for the duration of the sponsored section of the video, as well as in the description box.

Totally appreciate your transparency about how ads work. Also, I see a lot of youtubers using the #ad and as a viewer it doesn’t stop me from looking at their content. So, as long as the ad represents a product that you genuinely love and recommend being open about it in the title shouldn’t hurt you. I love how honest, open and transparent you are about the KZbin process and how you make your money. Personally, it doesn't bother me whether or not #ad is in the title. I click and stay on a video because I think it's interesting and thoughtful. There are certain videos and creators where it seems very obvious that it's sponsored content. It's not thoughtful. There's no story. It's very obvious that it's a skewed review/promotion. That's not cool with me, but I think what you do is a lot more engaging and purposeful than that.

I don't mind sponsored content when it's done well but I think the #ad will turn me away from a video on days where I don't have that much time to watch YT and just want to watch something genuine from YT I like. That does not mean that I don't support you, Aja! I'm on a debt free journey myself so I get you. Just saying what I've observed from my own behavior. That being said, I think the way you to sponsored videos is really nice because they differ very little from your regular videos.

I think having it in the description is good enough. I probably wouldn't click on the video if it was labelled as an ad, mostly because I hope that what I'm being advertised is actually something you would use. If it is, I don't mind that you (and other creators) come up with a fun and creative way to feature the product/service, as long as it still feels genuine and/or has other interesting content in the video (e.g. what's in your bag was genuinely interesting and it made sense that tampons would be in there and those that you featured were a smaller organic brand that could use support.)

I watch videos based on the content, the key thing being if I’m interested in it or not. The hasgtag wouldn’t really change much. But I would like to say that you make good quality sponsored content and it doesn’t feel like you are pushing something just to get money and the product is something you can get behind of (and actually use). So that is why I enjoy your videos ads or not. (My favorites are your original content ones like budget/money)

Such a good question and I think subconsciously it would hinder me if it were in the title. I don’t ever mind it in the description box. I usually can I.D. sponsored content once it happens in the video and I don’t mind, but I appreciate skillful plug-ins or transitions to a product or service. For example, what I think is a what I eat in a day, is actually an ad for Hello Fresh. I still want to watch the what I eat in a day, so I get what I want and you get your coin. Win-Win!

You can try contacting the ASPCA or local rescues on low cost or free options for spay/neuter options. I'm not in Culver City, but in the Valley about once a month or so there is a van that goes around offering lower cost options for people that have low to no income. The good part about LA is you have a lot of animal lovers around so you should have some good options.

Honestly, because you are so transparent with everything, I don’t think it’s necessary for you to put #ad in the title. I think it’d only hurt your views from people who don’t know who you are. When you put it in the description box, we know that you aren’t trying to be deceptive about it. We know that you genuinely like the products that you sponsor. Any person who watches your videos will know that you are an honest person and won’t get upset by you not putting ‘ad’ in the title. And if they do get upset, who cares :). The ASPCA would be your best bet- they usually offer cheaper prices for under-served communities, as well as have a statement where they believe that homeless people and their pets should not be separated unless absolutely necessary.

Usually when I see ad in the title, I assume it'll be VERY commercial-like and not genuine so I skip them. I prefer when there's some text at the start of the video that indicates it's a sponsored video, subtle but upfront I think. I've also seen where people will say it's a sponsored video way down in the description box, past the actual description and social media links and stuff. If it's in the description box, I think it should be where it can be seen without having to expand the box. That being said thanks for asking our thoughts!

I work in marketing so my opinion might be skewed, but if you put #ad in the title, I would still judge whether or not I want to watch the video based on the other part of the title. I've watched you for a long time and trust that if you're doing sponsored content, it's still something you would recommend. I am more hesitant to click on #ad content if it's someone I think is just telling us about a crappy product because they want the money. I really don't think you'd do that, and Claire is a great example of someone I don't think would do that, so I would still click! Thanks for all you do! I don't think people need to put ad in the title if its not required. I like when there is a visual cue on the screen when an ad is going to last for 60 seconds or something, a colorful bar/a frame/text/ etc. i think that's fair to do. and of course in the description

I honestly prefer ads that are completely separate from the video content. I know this isn't possible for every creator, but I really like the way Jenna and Julien do it for their podcast. They pause the content and give a spiel about a product or company and then continue their content. When ads are "seamless" in the video, it really is hard to tell if the creator really likes/uses that product, or if they are just saying so for the sponsorship. With an ad for underwear in a podcast about ghost stories, it doesn't effect the quality of the content at all. Sorry for the random tangent. To answer your question, I would be deterred from clicking if I saw #ad in the title.

I like what you said about the dog teeth cleaning. I think it's probably a pretty under-valued thing to do for your pet. Our dog lived a pretty long life (14 years), but her teeth started falling out. I would brush her teeth, but probably not enough. Unfortunately, we (like probably many dog owners) thought having her teeth cleaned was too costly. She ended up having heart issues all of a sudden last year (or maybe it was brewing)...actually it was when it was really hot during the summer. We thought it was the heat, but it ended up being fluid in her lungs from heart disease. I really think her bad teeth directly correlated to her heart disease, leading to us having to put her down. I watched the Netflix show Root Cause and that really opened up my eyes to the connection of teeth health and the rest of your health.

I tend to enjoy your videos whether or not they are sponsored, since you never seem to let it change the quality/content of your videos. But I feel like having #ad in the title is a deterrent for me personally. I mean, I will support creators I love, no matter what, but seeing #ad, makes it feel sometimes like the content wasn’t made with me in mind as an audience member and more just trying to fulfill the needs of the sponsor. One reason you will see AD in video titles is because KZbinrs in the UK must disclose if content contains ads or is sponsored, and this is a common way they can stay on the right side of the law.

The #ad is only necessary in the description box. For your subscribers like us, yah know we always support you and click on your video. I think by putting #ad in the title, it gives off the vibe that the ENTIRE video is about whatever sponsorship is involved. People don't click on and watch your content for the recommended products but rather you and the personal value you provide (relatability, advice, entertainment, tips, suggestions, etc - which do sometimes include products). So I think having it in the title would deter me from clicking or at least make me expect you to be "selling" something for most of the video, which is not what I'd be looking for.

I think it is better not to put #Ad in your title. It seems like half of the people enjoy that and the other half don't. It's quite unlikely that anyone is going to be upset that it isn't in the title as long as you continue to be honest in the video and in the description box. We're already used to the regular titles. However, if you put #AD in the video, then you risk some people less likely to click on the video. For some people, content labelled as ads/commercials may seem less interesting and/or more biased, especially for people who aren't your followers. Unless there is a significantly strong push from your followers to do so, I wouldn't add #Ad to the titles. We've begun doing yearly cleanings for our dogs. We have a low cost clinic nearby that does it for us. They do an excellent job and it's been very educational. We have 3 small dogs and the first time, our oldest had 13 teeth removed. :-( I had no idea how bad it was and that little dogs traditionally have issues with their teeth.

I think I would typically not click something if it had #ad in the title, I feel like the description is enough! : ) we understand the context of it being an ad it doesn't have to be PLASTERED all over the video. I think it's great that you ask tho!
