I missed this one! O wow! What every home owner needs. Nice buy!

Issues present, look at the copper rotting. Corrosion on copper says there is more than just diesel there. P.S: Generation is measured in VA (KVA, MVA) as wattage is not accurate for anything other than purely resistive loads with a 0 PF.

The voltage increase and decrease doesn't affect the hertz. Only RPM does.

Mike, correct. It's hard to shoot a live video without editing and get everything correct.

Now that’s what I call a generator 👍🏻🇬🇧

Thanks for your comment. Yes it is. I searched for nearly 2 years to find this generator. Apparently it was used for payment to an electrician from a Telco provider. He just needed to get his payment out of it, so I got quite the bargain.

question, how much cash per day to run generator? Like $200 a day?
@SHunsader Жыл бұрын
It depends on the load. 1000w maybe .5gpm, 5,000w ~.7gpm, 10,000w ~.9gpm.

Nice unit. If you want to store it for a long time add some diesel fuel Stable it's cheap and works. You can also buy additional filters if you wanted. Make sure you start it and put a really good load on it here and there or your gonna wet coat the exhaust and that will cost you more money. Try and put 3/4 of the rated load on it for 2 hours to clean the exhaust

Thanks for the info! Since the time I made video, it's been connected to our home's Energy System, which includes 8.1kW of Solar, 2 - 5k Inverters, and 70kWh of battery storage. The inverters have an 'Exercise' for the generator, but no way to put any load on the generator without manual intervention. I guess the mfgr just wants to ensure that the battery is charged, and cares less about the health of the generator. Thanks! - Steve

@@SHunsader On commercial stuff the ATS is part of the weekly test run. Generator fires, stabilizes, then the ATS kicks the load over to generator. Runs for an hour, kicks the load back to commercial power, runs for 30 minutes then shuts down. Stabilizers in diesel is silly. More important to make sure the fuel stays clean and dry (properly sealed tank). The fuel return line is concerning. That is exactly how water and debris gets into the fuel. Diesel doesn't degrade anything like gasoline.

@@ShainAndrews Thanks for your reply. Last year is the first year I've ever had some type of algae/fungus/bacteria in the fuel, and it was quite difficult to shake. I have quite a bit of history in farming, and using diesel powered pumps. I'm not sure what you mean in regards to the fuel return line. The hole drilled for the return line into the poly tank was slightly SMALLER than the copper line, so it needed to be forced through the hole, ensuring a pretty tight fit. - Steve

Gus, I think it has something to do with the amount and type of powder, as well as what goes in front of that powder. I'f found that big wads of aluminum foil packed in with the rammer improve the quality of the BOOM. (Called the 'report')

Just look for Off-road Fuel. Ask a Local Farmer. We use it in Everything on the Farm and Off.

SST, thanks for the comment. Would love to. I used to be a farmer in Florida, but I'm a 'city boy' in the San Francisco Area, and surrounded by 8+ Million city folk. There aren't any farms in the area, so I'd need to drive 50-70 miles each way just to get Off Road Fuel. Just one of the problems of living in a big city. I think if I used my generator more than the Christmas Holidays, I'd be looking a little harder. - Steve

No body talk about the rail road cart why you have rail road story time 😑
@SHunsader2 жыл бұрын
Gus, thanks for inquiring. We installed the railway to address a number of things on our property. 1. To move equipment/supplies in/out of the workshop to/from the driveway. A good example is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnylm6qDltWeaK8 2. We burn wood to keep warm, and have built a number of 'wood cars' to store wood. This keeps me from using a wheelbarrow every other day to get wood on neighbor's property. Seasoned wood is now kept next to the workshop. 3. We've learned that once one has a railway, there are plenty of possibilities. The utility car we were using doubles as an excellent work bench, and when we break ground next year, it'll be very easy to load up the work bench, and roll it onto site. 4. Using rail is a more compact and hidden method of moving things to/from the workshop. Once we've finished landscaping the back yard, it'll be the only way to move heavy things to/from the workshop. 5. Of course, the cool factor. I'm an engineer, and wanted to give it a try. It's cool.

Go to your coop

Thanks for your suggestion. We're in the middle of the SF Bay Area. Thousands of people for miles and miles. No co-op in the area.
