James tells Ste that Eric's contacted him to help him get his sentence reduced, but also tells him that he won't represent him. Donna-Marie holds a surprise princess themed party for Juliet but James ruins it by making fun of Donna-Marie's efforts. James later apologises and Donna-Marie's words about doing anything you can for those you love leads James to accepting Eric's offer, so he can pay for Juliet's private treatment.

I feel James is gonna double cross Eric. String him along enough to get the money but then at the last second cancel the appeal or something so as not to betray Verity. we know James is crafty like that and he has way too much to lose if he actually helps Eric get out so I don't think he will actually do it. He will just do what he needs to to get the money for Juliet but then he will make sure that Eric stays in prison where he belongs.

I do agree that James will somehow come out on top in the end, but he does something in Friday's episode that means Eric has a hold over him...
