DUDE! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU UPLOADED THIS! this was the very first F1 race I "attempted" to watch live as a 10 year old - but I fell asleep, so my parents recorded the first 1/3 of the race on VHS until the tape ran out. I had the tape for maybe a year or two until someone in the family accidentally recorded over it. I never thought I'd get to watch that TSN broadcast again - thanks for this!!!

Watching this in 2024 I am amazed at just how few marshal posts there were in this race, hence the lack of blue flags being shown. I am also thankful that the skills of the camera directors have improved so much since then, for the first 12 laps or so of this race you would have thought that there were only 3 cars on track. And watching this race also reminds us just how much better the on screen timing and other info is these days. Just a shame modern F1 cars sound like go-carts compared to these cars.

Those were good times : in 1997 , our state television, Rai ( Italy) broadcasted all F 1 grand prix democratically free . Unless I'm very much mistaken 😅 this was the magical voice of Murray Walker, one of the world's greatest sport commentators together with Vin Scully ( USA, baseball ) and our Adriano De Zan ( Rai , Cycling and " Domenica Sportiva")

Apparently he had a dispute with Patrick Head throughout his tenure in Williams and according to Peter Sauber, he wasn’t easy to adapt to the team and car.
