My band came down from Boston to compete at the Cardinal Dougherty contest in the late 60s. We stayed in the homes of band families - great people.

So proud of my older sister for being on the drill team for a few years. When I was a young football fan and player I remember them playing at halftime and the biggest game in the land Baltimore colts versus green bay packerss

Really glad you put this together. I didn't go to Cardinal Dougherty, but I was well aware of its band, and I have looked before online for a fitting tribute to it. I hope you can find some film footage and put it online.

The Cardinal Dougherty High School Band did not "compete" in Cavalcade of Bands competitions. They were a large and visually impressive group, but they had no band front skills, i.e. baton twirling, rifles, flags. The musical presentation was at a basic skill level. What they did they did well, but was not prepared for competitions at that time.
