The young man seated front row second from right next to the drum is my Great Grandfather Robert Cooper. He eventually became a band leader and solo trumpeter.

Won the overall Saddleworth prize in the 93 with Boarshurst Silver Band. Also, my 2 uncles John & Albert Bennett played in the band in the 1930's,

This has been my favorite march ever since hearing it on my first ever Whit Friday in 1984. Had the pleasure of playing it when depping with Glossop Old Band about 5 yrs later and we managed 10 contests on the night - brilliant!!!

Thanks. I have a FB page- Lenoir High School Band, and I post a march of the day, and have posted over 500 marches so far. I am always on the lookout for new material. I like to do a weekly theme and have already done one week of British Band marches and am gearing up for another week’s worth soon.

Good march haven’t heard it until now, TJ Powell known as the Welsh Sousa played under once with Cwmbran band

Two remarkable aspects: the march is in a minor key and the band repeats the first two strains da capo after the trio.

blottit Thank you very much for your answer, I didn't see before now! I thought maybe that it was an elder recording, but this was two years after they won the British Open brass band championship, so they must have been at their best I think! 😊
