So nice to hear the woodwinds. FAMU is always about the balance and it just feels good to listen to them. I love Southern but they need to take a few notes here. No disrespect.

did anyone else notice that the man directing the band is off beat and out of sync with the band by the 0:48 mark? The drum major standing in the middle of the trumpets conducted perfect 4:4 time. The band director? not so much

Damn..add some vet lower brass and trumpets and wallah.. A little edge on sound. Its still lacking that "in your FACE" intensity.

This!! If you go listen to to 2010 videos and before that you can hear that aggressiveness in the playing. It's a strong balanced sound. Loud but not out of tune loud. Take the trombone fanfare alumni played a couple days ago. You can hear that sound I'm referring to.

They sound good....but they ain't ready for that Southern Heat.....literally and figuratively.
@ptoyman5 жыл бұрын
All a matter of taste. I love Southern but hell, if you’re going to have clarinets, saxophones, flutes and piccolos, dammit let’s hear them. If you don’t want them or can’t appreciate their sound, go all brass like Ohio State. But to have them and constantly drown them out and never feature them just makes no sense to me. At times, I am really in the mood for the sheer power of Southern, and at times, I want to appreciate the full and balanced sound that FAMU constantly delivers. Two different styles, just a matter of what you prefer. FAMU went through a period of regrowth for sure, but rarely have I seen them not “ready” for anybody’s “heat”.

Please look at old band film of 80s 90s then rate your performance. I was , as many others,. sad to see crooked lines, Knees low. More Famuly, need to be honest with you all.. Much work needed. You shouldn't feel comfortable with your performance.
