It's awesome to fire up the old dot matrix printers once and awhile. My family had a Star Micronics 2420 color printer as our first color printer and I remember waiting for many PrintShop banners to finish up before heading to bed as the family computer was in my bedroom.

I remember how printing in color has been a kind of magic to me when I first witnessed it at my friend's place. He printer some very long Birthdays slogan on that computer paper using his Amiga 500 and one of these Star LC somethings that were so popular here in Germany. I had no such luxury. Well, all this time has gone by, it's the 21st century and I use a USB dot matrix printer that can't do color. Guess that little Apple thingy is a step ahead of me 😅

I used one from the first run MacEffects did of these for the holiday letter I sent out a couple years ago. I picked up a spare from the second run as the first one is mostly depleted now 😁

Power users print in color using the ImageWriter GX driver. It also has built in support for the ImageWriter AppleTalk card (and ColorSync!).

Is this the driver that will lay down layers of color? I believe that on one of my live streams someone use that driver if that’s the case.

I used to use w-d 40 to restore the ribbons but that was a very long time ago and I don’t remember the results.

Don't chuck out that Apple ribbon. When you finish with the MacEffects ribbon, just swap the foam ribbon advance roller to the Apple cartridge. Waste not, want not
