@Numbawan Fker Madonna was pop. Culture Club was pop. Queen was much much more better and had more artistic quality than typical 80s pop band. Just compare very easy-listening "Crazy little thing called love" and "Like a virgin". Or CCCatch "Strangers by night". The difference is huge.

my problem with the movie was that they tried to touch upon so many different aspects of his life (family, the band, mary, sexuality, etc...) that they never had time to go in depth about anything. i felt like i was skimming a wikepedia page instead of being taken on an emotional journey

@deathbeforedecaf77556 жыл бұрын
He was very insecure about his teeth but at the same time, he was smart and didn't mess with them bc it would ruin his great voice. Freddie was a very shy, insecure person. Made him quite a vulnerable, complex person and why so many could relate or fall in love w his music!
@blackngoldcuttlefish33906 жыл бұрын
@@deathbeforedecaf7755 yeah, very smart! It's kind of like a Rudolph the reindeer deal (lol ... in the sense that, the feature that made him stand out and potentially mockable actually turned out to be a gift)...you're right he was smart not to mess with it, even though he was self-conscious about it. It was kinda like that with Barbra Streisand too...people would wonder why she didn't get plastic surgery on her large nose, but, she didn't want to mess with it at all because she felt it helped her voice (once again, it's all about resonance, having more space up there in the head for a fuller, better voice!) But yeah his vulnerability and insecurity is also appealing :)

@my_hopes_are_too_high But he's said in interviews that he's bisexual. There's every indication in his relationships that he was bisexual. Despite the male partners he had he referred to Mary as his "common law wife", they had an unbreakable relationship until Freddie's death. He even trusted in Mary and Mary only to spread his ashes in an unknown location. If that doesn't tell you something i don't know what does.

coccinelle80 I feel the same! Damn, I'd love to have the privilege of knowing ANY person like him in my lifetime. I'm 35 and have since my early 20s, always appreciated Queen's music and Freddie's voice. I never knew their story or watched any interviews until the movie came out recently. It's really been quite a journey of discovery and comfort for me this past month since the movie came out and I spent a lot of time watching many things Queen on KZbin. I mention discovery for a few reasons. Mainly, I didn't know much about Freddie at all. I didn't know he and his family were immigrants to England. I didn't know he went to boarding school. I didn't know there was video footage of his mother doting on him. I did not know that he was in a loving relationship with Mary and that they remained devoted friends and that he left her such a big proportion of his estate. ...... I didn't know about an Englishman with big hair named Brian Mays!!! I was introduced to Queen in the 90s as a preteen with Wayne's World and Disney's The Mighty Ducks Movies. I was reintroduced to Queen in my early 20s hearing Fat Bottomed Girls & Crazy Little Thing Called Love. JUST this past month, I have been Re-introduced to I Want To Break Free & Radio Gaga. I've heard them both over the years, in passing. I never consciously attributed them to Queen. I have personally been pleasantly shocked at how much I have recently enjoyed hearing "Radio Gaga" play through my mind, involuntarily, after listening to it. I feel the same about "I Want To Break Free" after listening to it and watching the video. I mentioned comfort because that has what getting to know Queen & Freddie Mercury has given over these past few weeks. Like I said earlier, I'm 35. I grew up in the era where people still bought whole albums or CDs and enjoyed the experience of listening to them in their entirety. I know what it felt like to bought a complete playlist from one band or artist and you took it all in. I've been able to have full and adequate saturation of Queen these last few weeks on KZbin, without even seeing the movie yet, and it has been so unbelievably satisfying. The only very sad and unsatisfying thing had been knowing and digesting that the world no longer has Freddie Mercury and also has NOTHING CLOSE to the kindness, talent and feel-good charisma that Freddie had!! *We miss you, Freddie! You were a light unto this world. RIP!* P.S. Also in these last few weeks through just a couple videos, I was reminded that Adam Lambert had won a contest to replace Freddie as front man of Queen? I vaguely remember that being a thing and I haven't looked it up at the time of this writing.... I want to give my thought on it though..... I think Adam could be a great for front man for Queen and I would welcome it. I realize that thought is. heresy to many but... I feel Queens music needs to live o. and be carried for and I think Adam would have enough respect for Freddie and Queen's history to do them justice. That is my initiative feeling. I wonder where the band and Adam went with that initiative? I'll have to look into it. God Bless Queen and all who appreciate truly great musicians!!!!
