My uncle always used this trick when I worked with him in the shop. Pretty simple solution but comes in very handy for jacking up the front end of a split window! I've used mine 100's of times as you can see by the wear and have NEVER had an issue...this silly block of wood and jack go with me wherever we go and I can't tell you the number of times I've needed them both for various reasons! Some of the times haven't even been for my vehicle but for the beetle or trailer while out camping! We've even helped out our fellow camper a time or two...

I did manage to find the wheel chock on amazon.com (link below) but I'm certain you could find them at your local junk yard fairly cheap...

Cool Vid Marci! Most people dont think about how there gonna jack up there bus in advance when something un expected happens,( Old VW's go figure!) So good to be prepared! And tha block that locks in, is just the ticket!

The first T1 I worked on it took me ages to find out where to safely jack it up .good idear to mark out the wood so you can judge were it's situated

My uncle worked on Pre-67 vws for 50 years, never had a shop lift or anything ALWAYS just used jacks and boards, he taught me that trick!

Good idea on the block the intro reminds me of Turkey Run State Park I went to ISU spent a lot of time caamping at Turkey Run and hiking at Brown County, From Gary, mother-in law from Madsion spent a number of 4th of july there watching the boat races on the Ohio River.

My dad preached and preached to us as kids, guess some of it stuck! Plus I always have a little one running around nearby so I worry about something falling on a kiddo! Those chocks are the bees knees! I have like 5 of them! Lol thanks for always being here!

I apologize, I JUST today saw this comment...the overall block is 15" long, using a 4" X 6" block, the 2" circle is 3/4" back from the edge and on mine I centered in on the total 15" length, but wouldn't have to be dead center...just close! Again, sorry I didn't see the comment sooner!

I forgot to ask is Pickle a dill, garlic or a sweet pickle? something to ask the kiddo. BTW do you have a Hi Lift (AKA Bloomfield made in Bloomfield Indiana) jack for the land rover?

UMMMM that IS a great question! I will ask him! I do have a HI-LIFT jack (or "Bloomfield jack" as we call them) for the land rover. Only way to jack it up really...with a hi-lift it is like that thing weighs only 20-30lbs...makes it sooooo easy!
