Talking to my Mom who is in her 70's who says President Carter sure helped Black people out a lot. I remember the BETA and CETA Federal programs and Summer jobs programs for teenagers, Pell Grants etc. She said he wasn't scared either - he wasn't a mouse or a gorilla - but he did his thing and didn't back down. He let his work speak for him instead - despite what racist republicans did. She stated Black people were so happy - it was a new day and President Carter showed that Black people were people too. She says it wasn't easy for him and they went out of their way to make it hard on him. Mom said Black people were able to get jobs that they weren't able to get before - jobs that weren't the lowest on the totem pole. So, those things experienced - from someone who was actually there - along with the Peace in the Middle East deal and ALL of the philanthropic endeavors and human rights initiatives and climate work he and his wife accomplished for humanity - pales in comparison to anything perceived as negative. He was a very good President and an even better man. Rest in Power President Carter, thank you for doing your best to leave this world better than you found it.💜🙏🏽

President Carter ended a wonderful “Earn While You Learn” program called the Community Education and Training Act of 1974. The late Antioch School of Law in DC, used a grant from CETA to train and employee people such as myself to become paralegals. We took the same classes as the JD candidates during our two years, plus an internship. Other folks became heavy construction equipment operators, for example. That’s my one domestic beef with Carter. The rest are all foreign policy beefs that Mark touched on here.

The 1980 Mental Health Systems Act that was signed by Carter, provided grants to community mental health centers trying to shift care from institutions not end it altogether. Reagan repealed it with the Dem Congress a year after its passage. How you described it is disingenuous. Also, besides Operation Iron Claw in Iran, which failed, the only major military operation under Carter was use of US aircraft for logistical support for Belgian and French rescue operations in Zaire (now the Congo, DRC) in 1978. For a man with the reigns of empire, his hesitance in using it was the only time in my life we didn’t constantly have operations.

This video is the reason why I don't like MLH. He never goes into detail about Jimmy Carter's presidency when it comes to what he did domestically and internationally. No mention of Carter pardoning Vietnam War draft dodgers. Compare this video to Kyle Kulinski's video about Carter on his Secular Talk KZbin channel. He goes into great detail and mentions the story of Republicans having backdoor communication with the Iranian government telling them to release the hostages until after Ronald Reagan's inauguration. This is a terrible video.

Jimmy Carter was the last Democrat I voted for. I, later regretted voting for 'RON the CON' Reagan. Jimmy Carter the person was interesting. His brother Billy became famous for Billy Beer. The Carter family farm crop was peanuts. Jimmy Carter was a decent Governor of Georgia. Though I was not a fan of President Cater, politically speaking because He did not put "Americans First." I am a fan of Jimmy Carter the person, fellow veteran, and fellow Georgia farmer! Rest in Peace!

Your proposition that all heads of empire are guilty of war crimes is pretty sloppy. Instead you should SAY what his war crimes were rather than smear the man with a category. Gorbachev headed an empire and devolved it bringing the possibility of self government. Cornel west ran a campaign promising to back out of the us empire. That’s two examples, one historical and the other aspirational

@0:02 “…MY thoughts…” And therein lies the problem. It was also apparent that Dr. Hill should have held off on this broadcast until after he had gotten a good night’s sleep. An American, a US Navy Veteran, a faithful husband (to one wife!), father, grandfather, humanitarian, and former POTUS, JAMES EARL CARTER, Jr. of Plains, has died. Perhaps most remarkably, as a professed Christian and lifetime member of his local Baptist church, he lived his life practicing WHAT JESUS TAUGHT AND PREACHED- a rarity among men of any race or culture in US history. And yet, LIKE all the men on Planet Earth he WAS ALSO A FLAWED HUMAN BEING. Dear Dr.Lamont HILL, THAT IS ALL the thought(s) that your public audience really needed to hear. I understand what you're doing here. Carter was an amazing man and comparatively, I've done nothing in this world next to him. I think this is the time when we acknowledge his good deeds and humanitarian work. And I also understand why it's important to point out his role as leader of Empire. In our current framework, you must commit evils you wouldn't normally. It's very complicated. We can point this out (I'd prefer as a sidenote) while highlighting the good he did.

I like the thoughtful presentations of MLH. However, on this one, I M going to suggest that the fact that he was too young to grasp what was going on during Carter's presidency may cause him to miss the markl; Carter replaced the former CIA director with stansfield Turner -- totally different from other CIA types who clearly did not allow the CIA to be the crimina actor it had been. He - Carter elevated human rights as a principle in his foreign policy, he never told a lie as President -- he presented himself humbly -- he was effective in all these things and he had no control over the Iran hostage taking -- this was the result of CIA/UK criminakl overthrow of the former President of Iran. Carter had nothing to do with that but Reagan/Bush did have the illegal deal with Iran to hold the hosstagees until the election in exchange for spare parts for their military -- an illegal act in itslef. Then Reagan /Bush used the money Iran paid for the parts to the "Contras" to assassinate4 the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, and kill civillians! I would fault Carter, only for his implementation of the Brzinski plan to use Afghanistan to trap Russia in its VN tactic. So, compared to the rest of our Pres. since then, Carter was MLK.

I give Jill a pass for the right wing funding. Both parties pull that crap. I guess 3rd parties can choose not to accept the money.
