I thought the 10% tariffs across the board might not be worth if the cost is shifted to the price of the product, but if there's a comparable tax cut then people would be have more flexibility as to where their money goes. Should lead toward more competitive market in favor of the costumers, US made products and goods that are excluded from the new tariffs.

Hmmmm, I don’t agree on the competition part as there is a lot of consolidation going on and some companies are so big that to compete is foolish… just look at what Walmart does to companies… They’ll just have us in a corner, plus think of where these companies source their materials currently… Also consider how expensive labor is in America compared to other countries where they could manufacture things. @Goddessrosiereed I think your complaint is based on how things are and not the tariffs. Walmart is not a factory. Yeah Americans are paid more, that's why they make their factories overseas. But that's also why Trump proposed 15-20% tax cut on companies that make their factories here. Coupled together, is a pretty dang effective way to incentivize American manufacturing. He campaigned on proposing good policy and people want what he is promising. The current administration promised to cut oil production and usage while suggesting everyone buy electric vehicles and they did it. And that's why everything is a lot more expensive.

@@kirara159As a global economy other governments will compete with what the US is offering. What you quoted I’m willing to bet won’t be enough to move back here. CEOs of certain companies have already said they have the flexibility to source elsewhere with lower tariffs… Southeast Asia, India, etc. It might even inspire other countries to step up their game to get that money! I’m just speculating, once these things go into effect (if they do as planned) than we shall see what happens. I think Americans as a whole should move on to our types of jobs. There are quite a few threats to manufacturing and some opportunities for those willing to do it.

Including America itself. What other types of Jobs? Manufacturing is One of the biggest source of jobs if not the biggest. Why move on? And Walmart is mostly a distributor, Their prices will be affected relative to the goods they sell. It's not an overseas factory.
