Excellent video with explanation. I want to use A as a phrase up only switch. Is there any way to use B as open or closed for a line out cable on an amplifier? Less pedals is my preference

@amirprog forgive the delay in this response. 1. The answer is yes and no. The intent of this pedal is to move "back and forth" or "up and down" through a list of settings/patches as a navigation tool. The Nord Stage 2 doesn't have a vital ingredient to make this work, which is known as the "Program Up/Down" jack found in the back of both the Nord Stage 3 and The Nord Stage 4 keyboards. As such, no, this pedal won't be able to move up and down through programs on your Stage 2. You could, however, consider doing this through MIDI by using this solution: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5aZiWybhpuaf80feature=shared 2. The switches on this pedal cannot be made inactive. There is no setting for that. As discussed in #1 above, unfortunately, this pedal cannot be used to move up (or down) the program list on a Nord Stage 2 as the Nord board has no such accommodation for that functionality. 3) There are pros and cons between this Pedal (the FS-7) and the FS-6. Most notably, the FS-7 can work with limited functionality without a battery. One advantage of the FS-6 is that people find it easier to "push" because the pads are bigger. On the other hand, the FS-7 is a newer model and smaller (and I'm sure that works well for people as well). Hello @Sava12242 I don't believe these features are supported by your keyboard. According to Page 72 of the manual for the Roland 700NX, the FC1 and FC2 jacks in the back of your board, there are a great many things that can be assigned. Thank you @Dherlax glad you love the content! So, I don't talk about the compressor much really anywhere on any of my videos on KZbin. I do have a lesson on this in the paid course. It's a feature that doesn't jump out to me as super important. However, it is used heavily to make this sax sound here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWiwlKKtZbCtnM0 Here is the what the manual says about the compressor for the Stage 3: The COMPRESSOR effect reduces the dynamic range of the sound, making low-level sound louder and high-level sound more quiet. This produces a tight, punchy sound and makes the overall level easier to control in a live mix situation. The Compressor is activated with its ON button. The AMOUNT knob controls the amount of compression applied.

If your unit supports a foot switch, then it's likely this will work.

@@MyKeysToMusic yes it does but it's a little weird with the fc6 B goes up patches and A goes down. I would rather do it the other way. My first impulse was to use A to go up patches but you know how impulsive I am. 😁

I don't know for sure but my guess is that yes, it should work by connecting to the "bank shift" jack in the back of the GR33.

Unless I missed it you dont mention how difficult it is to operate this pedal. You cant use your heel as an anchor as with the FS6 so you have to lift your foot off the ground which for older musicians makes it easy to lose balance. So the B scrolling pedal is hard to use. None of you guys cover every aspect inclusing actually showing the pedal being operated!!!

And you're correct, some pedals are different than others - especially if you are a musician who stands versus one who sits. I'll certainly keep this in mind with future videos. Thanks!

@@MyKeysToMusic Broun not Brown please! I dont know the percentages but many musicians stand and use pedal boards. In my opinion it is a design flaw of the Boss FS7 ! I was using it for busking yesterday and whereas I was learning to stand on one foot with enough control/balance to carefully scroll up my songs using the A pedal it was not easy and I was a gymnast in my youth with excellent body control! When designing my compact pedal box I tried mounting the FS horizontally so my heel could be anchored on the ground to reach each pedal but its wedge shape made that impossible! One advantage of the FS7 is rapid scrolling can be done with practice so if you have 40 or so backing tracks I found the easiest and quickest way to select a song is to rapidly scroll to the end of the list and then use the B pedal (nearest the foot) to scroll back down to the required song. For other on/off pedals such as reverb or Octaver it is not a problem because the foot is easily lifted (hence I guess the name stomp board). Boss are generally superbly designed products.

@@WoodomainJeremyBroun Thanks for the update here. I for one have been standing while playing keys since I started way back in 1985. However, for nearly the entire time, I limited my use of pedals to a simple sustain pedal. It's only now that I see the light and the power of the footswitch. So, I agree that the "A" part of the pedal is harder to balance when standing versus the "B" since you can use your angle to hold your weight while selecting B. However, I think it's something I could get used to potentially. For sure it's easier to perform an on/off one-time push versus a hold. In any case, thanks for reporting your perspective here - it will hopefully help others reading it. Oh, and I also agree that generally speaking the Boss pedals are superbly designed products.
