@@vistabarmancave Very interesting! I'm not a ham radio operator. My Dad used to listen to short wave radio when I was growing up so "broadcasting" was a thing in my house and radio was big for him. I think some of that carried over to me where I often found myself listening to talk radio more than music while in the car in the 90s and 2000s. Now (like a lot of us) I work from home and gigs are fewer so I'm not in the car nearly as much. I still listen to podcasts however.

@Heathbarbcrunch2 Heya Heathbarbcrunch2 - great question! Do you want each of the 4 switches to do something different or all do the same thing but from two different locations? @MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Hello @Roberto Flores - Based on what I'm reading in the manual, there is no way to change between song parts via MIDI and Ableton Live. The Electro 5 doesn't support changing programs in Live mode (only regular mode). The Electro 6 does support live mode program changes, however. And of course, you could use Ableton to change the Electro 5 standard programs. You also have this MIDI option to change programs via a pedal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5aZiWybhpuaf80

Hi I have a problem with my fs-6. the "pedal B" is always active. - Mono cable entry in pedal A - Mono cable entry in pedal B - stereo cable output in A + B Pedal A works (on \ off), while pedal B is always active even when pressed. Obviously I tried to change cables, I also used contact spray but nothing. Question: Is this normal or is there something wrong? Thanks!
@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Hello @Dario according to what I see on this end in that exact scenario, everything works here. Pedal A and B both controll whatever they are connected to from any of the 3 cables. It sounds like a pedal issue potentially. You using a fresh battery?

@jovers70 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc, thanks for your answer. So next to the FV-5 I can use the boss FS-6. I have another question. Is it normal that the volume with the FV-5 (or FV-7) only works with the organs and not with piano and samples? Thanks a lot and stay health! John
@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 3 жыл бұрын
That's righ John, you can use the Roland pedal along side the Boss. So, on the Electro the volume (control pedal) works with any engine that has "CTRLPED" button selected (below the volume area of each engine). So, if you want to control the piano volume for example, you just need to make sure the Control Pedal light is on. You'll also notice that this setting changes from program to program so keep your eye on this as you switch programs. You may have to "Store" your programs one by one for those that you want to control volume on for various engines. By default not all engines are active with the control pedal - some are and some are not. It's a matter of how they were originally programmed.

Hi Marc, is the FS-6 compatible with Mainstage and my Nord stage 3? For instance, can I program it to advance forward and backward through patches within a Mainstage conert?
@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic Жыл бұрын
Hello @pdupuis I believe the answer to this is yes. There are a couple of ways to go about this - especially with the Stage 3. You have to first decide which is going to be your primary program switcher. Would you rather have the Nord Stage 3 dictate which patch to change in MainStage OR would you like MainStage to change the patch on the Stage 3? Once you decide this, you'll have a particular setup to follow. And because this pedal is an actual traditional footswitch (versus a MIDI footswitch), I assume your situation is such that you are going to connect the pedal to the Stage 3 first. Then from there, as you move up and down the programs on the Nord with the pedal, you are hoping to see your computer change accordingly. If this is the case, have a look at the extern video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6rJiKGnotimnq8 I also have far more detailed and advanced videos about this in the "Master the Nord Stage 3" course available on my website. In those videos, I demonstrate how to calibrate the Nord programs using Extern and how that can dictate the exact patch to change on the keyboard that it's connected to. In your case, it's not a keyboard, but rather MainStage.

@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Hello @John Verschuren I took a few moment today to actually test all this with the Boss FS-6 pedal and it works like a charm! You need to set both sides of each pedal to "momentary" and you need two traditional 1/4 TS cables coming out of A and B to their respective ports on the Electro. Finally, you need to set the Electro sustain pedal and rotor pedal settings to "Closed" and after all that, it works great! Hello Edward. It "should" work if the Roland amp accepts a traditional footswitch. These switches are meant to be mostly universal to work with all kinds of gear including amps. You may have to toggle the switches on the pedal itself to get the expected behavior, but other than that it "should" work. You could always see what the Roland amp manual has to say about it or ask a Roland amp expert. Good luck!

The trick is not to use midi for the program change, but the "switch 1 & 2" out of the back of the FCB1010 with a 2 1/4" mono to 1 1/4" stereo jack. Making sure you change the FCB1010 switch to momentary, makes any 2 buttons up and down like the boss foot switch. Leaving the rest of the board for other fun midi stuff. Can it work on a Korg D1
@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Hello @paa kwasi Thanks for your question. The answer is no, these particular pedals will not work with the Korg D1. However, I did some research in the Korg D1 manual and on page 15 (cdn.korg.com/us/support/download/files/51cb5c3b2ee12667708941a602d28fb1.pdf?response-content-disposition=inline%3Bfilename%2A%3DUTF-8%27%27D1_OM_EFGS2.pdf&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf%3B), it states that the keyboard has the ability to receive program change commands from external MIDI devices. Therefore, you "MIGHT" be able to do something similar (change programs/sounds up and down) using this type of MIDI pedal instead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5aZiWybhpuaf80 *Side note and trivia:* For others reading this, the Korg D1 was released in Jan 2018, and is Stage Piano/Controller Keyboard that comes in white or black. It has 30 built-in sounds and weighted keys. Although it doesn't directly accommodate using a foot switch pedal from Boss or others (as noted above), I found it interesting that it provides for a "really advanced" feature providing control over "Temperament" which is an attribute that a lot of keyboards don't begin to address. I found this intriguing as this is the first time I've heard of a traditional stage piano/controller like this built with accommodations for temperament - especially in this price range. Then again, I would not in any way consider myself an expert at MIDI controller keyboards and perhaps a lot of them come with this feature? Out of the thousands and thousands of questions posed to me on this channel and in my online Nord programming school, I've had only one question about temperament (which is why it caught my eye as I read through the manual today). FYI Korg D1 pricing on Amazon (affiliate link): amzn.to/3shoKZg. (And lastly, for a thorough review of the Korg D1, I trust "Piano Dreamers" for this. I've had email conversations back and forth with the writer of this blog and he does a really thorough job reviewing keyboards: www.pianodreamers.com/korg-d1-review/ 👍🏼

@MyKeysToMusic
@MyKeysToMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Hello @DeanoPiano Thanks for your question. What you bought was a traditional volume pedal (more what you'd likely use with a guitar for example) since guitars can't really morph volume in the way that keyboards can using built-in morph controls digitally. Your Boss is fine if you want overall control of the volume and it has a place in your setup perhaps. You can also use it with any kind of instrument that outputs audio to a 1/4 jack. Very useful, but not if you're looking to morph individual items on your Nord Stage 3 keyboard. For that, you want a "control" pedal like the Yamaha FC-7 (Affiliate link: amzn.to/2DxcLy7) found in a video I did here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5atapVnpKx4r7s Getting the FC-7 will allow you to do all kinds of things with your Stage 3 such as: Drawbar levels, Rotary Speed, Sound level (volume) for all three sounds engines independently, LFO Rate, OSC Ctrl, LFO Amount, Filter Freq, Resonance, Arp Rate, Effect 1 Rate, Effect 1 Amt, Effect 2 Amt, Dely Tempo, Delay Feedback, Delay Mix, EQ Mid/ Filter Freq, Drive, Reverb Dry/Wet. In addition, the pedal can be plugged into the Swell jack to control the overall volume of the keyboard or just the organ engine. Hope that helps clarify things in this regard. Have a look at my pedal videos part 1 and 2 if you want a flyover on all things "pedals" for your NS3. Here is part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXqbeYlmgZd0mqM

@@MyKeysToMusic Always, als since you help a lot of people out with the stage 3 and attributes, it could indeed be handy from trial and error and just buying and testing what works. And if it works, its great and can be shared haha 😁

I would like to use a footswitch with a Leslie effect I haven't yet figured out how to do that. 😁

Need a bit more clarification here. Are you looking for a foot switch that triggers the Leslie effect on your Nord keyboard specifically or are you looking for a stand-alone pedal system that imitates a Leslie by itself that could be used with any keyboard/instrument?

@@MyKeysToMusic I don't have a Nord. You are just the only guy with a keyboard/pedal video at the moment. I have other fx units but I don't have them set up with pedals yet. I am using the pedals with my wind controller and sequencer.

@@amonster8mymother Do you already have a Leslie effect? And if so, does it have an option for a foot switch?

@@MyKeysToMusic no I don't. I might have a patch in one of my fx units but I still have to get the pedal to turn it on and off.

Interesting that this isn't working out of the box. If your FX unit supports a foot switch and you're not able to get yours to work, I recommend the following troubleshooting steps: 1) Confirm that you are using the correct cable setup. The Boss pedal in this video one offers both the AB as well as A and B separate jacks. I assume you're coming from the AB combined jack from the foot switch and using a TRS Cable into your single jack on the FX unit? 2) Check to be sure your FX unit is setup to use a foot switch in the first place. There may be a setting allowing you to turn this feature on and off. Make sure that it's ready to accept such a signal. 3) Refer to the manual of the FX unit and read what it says about the foot switch specifically. Sometimes these things are setup to control something you didn't expect. 4) Try various devices and setups to see if you can get the switch to do "something" confirming that the unit and/or cables are not defective. 5) Experiment with the polarity options on the switch to see if the unit is expecting one or the other. Beyond this, I can't think of why this doesn't work out of the box. Good luck.

The battery is required for this pedal to operate. However, if you look at the Boss FS-7, that one can work with a battery or without a battery with limited features. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2qQg6J9jreUfaM

I agree with you on this. The Boss FS-7 has the advantage in that it works (mostly) even without a battery: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2qQg6J9jreUfaM Some students say they use those 9 volt decoy battery chargers, letting you "plug-in" your pedals even though it only takes a battery.
