Apart from all the super fast parts (played with unbelievable precision) one big detail should not be left without commenting which shows how great Marco Sfogli really is. There is that simple melody between 00:32 to 00:38 where you think: oh ok, cool melody bro... and not much more to it, right? Now pay attention to how many grace notes Marco had put into it to enrichen it and bring it to another audible level. Plenty of slide-ins to a note, vibratos and hammer-ons. Whenever I try to play it I am amazed at Marco's playing level - this kind of grace note frenzy is surely how he plays stuff on a regular basis whereas for a mere mortal you have got to put plenty of effort to learn to play it like that. This song is a true GEM for those who understand guitar. For somebody who doesn't play electric guitar this would be just another song on the radio but for a guitarist on a certain level this is a mind opener and should be taught at music shools or at least presented as a curiousity.

You can certainly hear JP in there, but i think Marco is a lot more creative. I find his playing more interesting and exciting than JP's. Not to knock JP, he's a fantastic player.

Marco is better than "Petrucci now" by far. I'm sorry, and I love JP, but he's overly technical now. His music lacks feeling and groove. His playing has become so mathematical that I just don't enjoy it anymore. Joe understood grooving and melody, Steve Vai took that and made his music and notes flow seamlessly, and JP was the God of technique and speed. Marco has blended all 3 and creates some of the most inspiring music I've heard in a very long time. It's a shame James Labrie picked him up. I hate his voice so much. Hopefully Marco will keep pumping out solo albums.

Lol but serriously no you just can't compare them, Marco is more of a petrucci than any of the 2, without joe and vai i don't think he is what he is now because those 2 and petrucci are also among his influences and they paved the way for him when he was still a drummer.. you're treating music as competition, if that's the case is it safe to say kiko loureiro, michael romeo, ron thal can blow marco anytime? or shawn lane, guthrie, frank gambale or any jazz fusion guitarist?
