Love it! One thing I have wondered about for a while... You don't talk about opaque vs. transparent oils, do you use them for the same type of painting and just pick the colour you are after? I noticed with your red selection that Cadmium red is opaque and Alizarin crimson a transparent paint. Personally I either use transparent oils like contrast paints straight on the basecoat, then use opaque oils to shade and highlight; or as glazes / filters over opaque paints to bring vibrancy.

These really are the craziest videos. Oils seem so daunting and foreign but looks so much easier to achieve such amazing results. Hi Marco. I would like to suggest a new video, telling us the strategy that you use with oil painting based on your experience. Something like: "I use palid color in bases with acrylic, and then, darker ones with oil painting, and removed excess before getting dry"... I don't know, this kind of tricks... Stunning outcome and hugely inspiring. It looked like the choice of model also complimented the painting approach, lots of deep shadow areas and ridges/highlight friendly areas. Is this the case, that certain sculpts will be better suited to this approach than others?

It is interesting how the painting of miniature models and models has been done by the wheel over the years. At this point, all miniature painting hobbyists discover oil paints and washings, which have been doing well for many years in the segment of historical modeling ect. Nevertheless, it shows well that you cannot have a monopoly on everything (GW). Anyone can wash themselves now, make a wet blend. I recommend it, I am constantly increasing the palette of oil paints. You can train on anything if someone is afraid of an expensive miniature from GW. Let me just add that turpentine and white spirit remove any amount of oil paint if we overdo it. I'm curious if you can replicate the contrast paints. To me (a noob) it doesn't seem to be quite the same as just thinning down the paint for a wash. I have some inks, but I'm very inexperienced with them. Any thoughts?

@@madthinker7777 Contrast paints have well-balanced proportions, it's hard to give one prescription for each Pigment because there are pigments easier to dilute and maintain consistency and viscosity, but there are also pigments (colors) that are hard to work with. You have to come to the right proportions yourself. It is definitely worth equipping yourself with a good medium, Flow improver and airbrush thinner. Personally, I try to work with these three elements to obtain the right, satisfactory consistency. Gobertown Hobby has created a very good material about creating your own contrast mixes, I recommend ... his film is certainly a better explanation of the issue than my quick commentary here.
