I have always wanted to complete this raid and explore the music, especially THAT moment. I was really excited to get in there and boy did I love that final battle with the big T man himself. Fantastic showing as always from the Bungie music team.

I’m so glad you got to experience Deep Stone Lullaby in game. With the amazing visuals of the space above Europa and Clovis Bray’s monologue it’s such a special experience and the space walk is something that every Destiny player should get a chance to experience for themselves.

3:34 - This track is titled "Athanasia". It is a Greek word, and while associated with a type of flower, it means something else: immortality. It represents Clovis Bray I's obsession with his legacy and his continued existence, as you enter and travel through the halls of his greatest achievement. 6:27 - This is ingrained into my mind. Atraks-1, Fallen Exo remains my favorite raid encounter to this day, despite the hell she put my team and I through on day 1. Atraks is the youngest of the House of Salvation, an Eliksni that never experienced the cataclysm that destroyed Riis, their homeworld. She represents a new era of Eliksni and her willingness to cast off her shell to be reborn just as their civilization will be shows her dedication to their ambition. With the defeat of Eramis, her Kell, she is one of the last of Salvation's Elite, and she will lift their species up beyond their organic forms. 9:54 - Stepping out onto the catwalks of the Morning Star Orbital Platform after spending hours on Atraks on day 1, and hearing Clovis proclaim us to be facing the judgement of gods as Deep Stone Lullaby plays in the background was - and is - a wholly magnificent experience. This piece has been stated to represent going to sleep as a human and waking up as an Exo, free of the chains of mortality as Clovis so maddeningly sought. 17:09 - At this point in the raid, this fight is little more than the aftermath of everything else. We've stopped Atraks and her goal of acquiring the Crypt's technology. We've stopped Europa's destruction. At this point, we've more or less won. But there's one thing standing in our way: an old rival, returned and determined to get his revenge. But we've had this song and dance with Taniks before. That's why the music is so triumphant, so clearly supporting and backing us up. This is a fight to finally settle the score. Despite the power he wields, Taniks *cannot* win against us. Look within. Focus your power and defeat him. The Deep Stone Crypt was my first time doing a raid on Day 1. It is my favorite raid in the game, and I've since flawlessed it. Clovis Bray was so obsessed with his legacy and perpetuating his existence, and it must be fitting that the raid that takes place within the culmination of his life's work is something I will never forget. Thank you for your breakdowns.

I feel like Deep Stone Lullaby (9:54), is the representation of the feelings someone's life. It starts slow and in a calming manner, as a sign of the moment they're born, then it gets progressively faster and with stronger notes and more instruments, which to me, represent someone growing up(getting faster), taking more responsibilities(stronger notes) and meeting more people(more instruments). Then, it reaches the point in which it represents someone going through the procedure to become an EXO, the music continues to go faster and getting louder until it suddenly stops, representing the feelings of anxiety, nervousness previous to the procedure, and the sudden silence represents the death of their original body, which happens when their consciousness is copied and stored. Finally, it starts again as it did at first, at which point I like to think that it represents the moment someone awakens in their new EXO body, which you could say it's the second time they've been born, and their new life starts, and so, the song would cycle again. BTW, DSC may not be most people's favourite D2 raid, but for me, it holds a special place avobe all other D2 raids because I've always been a huge fan of EXOs and all of that Human Golden Age mystery, and after 7 years since D1's launch, to be able to finaly uncover one of those mysteries, it was something really touching for me.

I know there is some nostalgia already with Deep Stone Lullaby, but it still gives me goosebumps with those first few chords. Masterpiece of an encounter, the song and the setting are absolutely perfection. In the first encounter with Taniks, when the windows are covered in plasma and heat due to re-entering Europa's atmosphere, that is another incredible touch from the art team. Art team and music team second to none in video games. Status: Calamitous 😀

The spacewalk with deep stone lullaby is still by far one of my favorite destiny moments and all time gaming moments, my raid group went into deep stone day 1 and spent 18 hours fighting the endurance run that was atracks, spending all night in that encounter only to get here and hearing this song as the sun came up, i had to stop for a moment due to my crying

It’s probably been said already. But the part about Atraks-1 feeling as though she is the main character fight against the guardians, makes more sense when you consider that to the eliksni, machines are essentially gods. And now that Atraks is exo, she has ascended to a god like status among the eliksni of house salvation, and she most likely considers herself to be at that level

Something I want to point out that I discovered recently is taniks' orignal them "The shadow thief" is foreshadowed here at the very start 0:29. Which a little remix of the shadow thiefs theme is played at 13:42 with a little darkness/ witness twist to it. Such a cool detail I'm surprised I never realised myself. And 9:54.... So much I want to say that I dont know what to say first xD. The first song I ever suggested to Marco and he was very very very nice about it. Thank you so much Marco. Only he knows what that means ;) If I ever get to visit space myself I will be thinking of this song. If I get the chance to actually listen to it on the journey, I sure as hell will be.

I’ll never forget too, When I LFG’d for a sherpa of this raid the guy leading us through demanded we all muted and deafened ourselves in call for the Deep stone lullaby section. Keep up the great work!

Man DSC and even Beyond Light as an expansion will always be near and dear to me. I’m very into the lore and have played Exo for my entirety in this universe and it really felt like both myself and my guardian were uncovering the past together. Lots of repressed memories and discovering what kind of place DSC even was. They came from there sure, but after losing memories from being turned into a Guardian, it was like digging up some eerie, forbidden past about yourself. The spacewalk especially I think hit both me and my OC really hard. Almost like a massive point of realization. Especially with all the Exo exclusive dialogue. The “Welcome Home” bit hitting kinda hard as well. It’s always one thing to hear about it, but actually being there and uncovering and seeing it yourself really makes it feel more impactful.

The taniks music is so fitting. It's like two old rivals meeting up, because that's what Taniks is to us. He's one of the first "big bads" we ever faced. Killed Andal Brask, Hunter Vanguard; "killed" by Cayde-6, Hunter Vanguard; "killed" by the Guardian, in Shadow Thief; "killed" by the Guardian while SIVA-fied in Shadow Thief [REDUX]; "killed" by the Guardian as a Nightmare on the Moon; and finally killed by the Guardian after being resurrected using Exo techonology. An enemy so tenacious he may as well be a Guardian. A constant threat, always gunning for us, always high stakes. And the culmination of years of combat is a final showdown in a hospital parking lot. And I love that the damage phase almost feels like OUR music instead of the boss'es, like every other Destiny raid. It's a song of OUR triumph, it's a musical piece where we take over and win in the same we are doing physically. The Guardian Theme is so powerful during damage phase, almost more powerful than any other damage phase in other raids that I can think of. Two rivals back in the ring for the final time, a showdown almost a decade in the making. I love Deep Stone Crypt. I love everything about it.

There are two really interesting notes about the opening track for this. One is that those bassy strings propelling your forwards are actually Taniks' theme from D1 (which the third encounter track is indeed a reprisal of), foreshadowing his rebirth and appearance in the raid. The other is that, despite them sounding similar, the low synths in that opening track aren't actually Darkness synths - they instead match up with the synths played in the bossfight of the Glassway strike (titles Reboot), which happens where the radiolarian fluid used to create exos is collected. Darkness synths have a stronger and higher pitch chaotic element to them. As an aside, I really kinda wish Taniks' wasn't here and the boss of the raid was Atraks-1 instead. The first ever non-human exo (and an Eliksni no less, who before joining House Salvation would have viewed machines as objects of worship) would have been a much more dramatic and poetic headline than that one guy who just won't die, and I don't know that any other track will really hit me quite the same way that the peak of her one does. I still can't hear it without having my.mond cast back to the hours spent there on day 1. Such a beautiful mix of heroism and desperation composed for an enemy rather than ourselves. I think more than anyone else we've fought, Atraks truly believed she was on the hero's journey.

Beyond Light had some of the best content and lore in Destiny 2. Everything that stems from this raid's completion was just masterful. Learning about the early days of life on Europa, the construction of the Vex gate, the calamity that followed, and the growth of, what I refer to as, Clovis Bray Prime. Finding the Clovis AI, and discovering the true identity of Banshee-44 in the Tower. It was just so beautifully rich in lore. Deep Stone Crypt is peak Destiny 2.

The song as you enter the Crypt after the blizzard is called Athanasia, which means Immortality. Athanasia flows perfectly in to the damage phase for the Crypt Security, which is aptly named "Security Breach." Fun lore fact: The Darkness Statue, Cayde knew about. It's the source of the "Long Slow Whisper." Which, if I recall correctly, is what told Clovis how to create the Exos. What I hate is that Vault of Glass has 2 tracks. Venus Patrol and Chronologies. The boss is an easy 1 Phase and the music only starts at 50% health, so you don't even get to hear it.

IDK if anyone pointed it out, but Tanik's being the final boss is hinted in the very beginning of the raid from his theme introduced in D1.(Tanik's is also known for being unkillable/immortal because he managed to escape with his life throughout various encounters described through destiny's lore. Very fitting for deep stone crypt/ europa a place used to research "immortality" It was kind of cool figuring out who the boss was going to be 10 seconds into the raid for the first time. Very rewarding.

Deep Stone Crypt! It isn't my favourite raid anymore (that seat was snatched by VOTD) but it was the first I ever did and was one of the reasons I got into Destiny. The clan I've been in for the past year really helped me learn my way through it. It's magical when you get to experience this raid with those of like mind. I'll never forget someone yelling for everyone to shut up during the Lullaby's segment. I now do it when teaching this raid (in a light-hearted and joking way of course). Damn, first time I hear that notes in shipwalk, almost cried. So much sadness there, so much oppotunities missed because of Collapse, so much lives lost. The only music that hit me harded is the one from Howard Shore and his Lord of the Rings music (and I hope someday you will review some music from LotR)

If you havent already, really recommend the music from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. Bombastic, elicits a feeling of adventure into a forbidden cave of wonders. I know imma total stranger but Id be down to take you through any time😂!

Oh definitely with the "hopeful" tone because of the hero and god complex that Clovis Bray has both in life and in death, he absolutely wanted to be *_that_* God that humanity worshipped

You should try listening to "The Sanctified Mind" it's the final boss soundtrack of the Garden of Salvation raid. It is very underrated imo and I relly like the Vex theme since Destiny 1 and the GoS is one of the most beautiful looking raid area ever

A nice detail is that Athanasia will (essentially) perfectly transition into Security Breach when you start the encounter. You can actually find a mix on youtube of the two tracks put together and it sounds so perfect.

Unfortunately the music not playing when starting 1st encounter is a bug, it's supposed to start immediately, but its what plays after you finish the dps phase
