Honestly. I can't believe Toei and Hasbro haven't done a Sentai and Ranger team up, especially nowadays that multiverses are the Thing. Yes it could go incredibly wrong. Yes it will stir all the unwanted discourse probably mostly from the western fans of one or the other. But I'd love Sentai to recognize Rangers as a way of broadening the territory for toku and Rangers thanking Sentai for being the source of it all.

Actually really enjoyed this. I’m very new to Super Sentai but I still found this stuff incredibly interesting. Growing up in the west during the 2000s, I had obviously watched Power Rangers, so seeing the differences and similarities between these 2 is very cool. Hope you continue this series, maybe even dabble into the series that god forgot and Black/Black RX comparison.

Just stumbled upon this channel. I know I am a year late but I loved the vid. It's always so interesting how, and what the American network decides to copy from Super Sentai, especially in the first few seasons of MMPR when they weren't changing the cast and suits each season. Hope to see more like this in the future with the other Power Rangers seasons. Great stuff man.

Currently watching Dairanger..... Seeing each team member struggle with a different issue, get highlighted and grow is really satisfying. They dont get their full combined mecha until around episode 9, and it feels earned! Having an absolute blast with this series. Zyuranger was incredibly similiar in this regard as you mentioned. Glad to be able to give flowers to both the Japanese and American sentai shows And yes....if you havent read the Boom Comics for Power Rangers, I HIGHLY recommend it....IMO some of the greatest comics, greatest storylines and character development in graphic novels period!

The silly / light tone of MMPR was most likely due to influence of Zyuuranger. Had Saban based MMPR on the next sentai series (Dairanger), the tone would have been much much darker.

Zyuranger had much more creativity and imagination. MMPR (which I wish it was called Power Rangers Dino Force) was holding itself back due to the whole "moral of the day", stupid comedy, and the high school setting. I wish MMPR (Power Rangers Dino Force) would focus a little bit more about dinosaur related things and have the dino zords as cyborgs with personalities.

This looks to be a pretty fun series already! I am a lover of production history for pop culture media and this was pretty neat. My only real nitpick about Power Rangers, is that I wished it had taken itself more seriously like Zyuranger. In the age where X-Men the Animated series and Beast Wars were reigning, Power Rangers could have also had a great narrative.

That always has been a sticking point with me and I'm glad later seasons stopped the comedic elements and did just that. In Space, Lightspeed Rescue, Lost Galaxy, & even Time Force & RPM are the best in that regard.

As a show I prefer Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when compared to Zyuranger. That said…I’m sick of all the damn callbacks to the show in modern PR shows! I loved Dino Fury but the Zedd stuff was definitely the weakest part of it as was the opening. It’s unnecessary and made the heroes feel worthless, and I hate it when these kinds of shows do that (the Zedd stuff)! I swear, the show runners are addicted to the original MMPR…

I never watched Super Zyuranger but as always, the original has a much stronger tone than the American remake. I own Gridman, known as Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad in the US and it's the same with that. Way more effort and serious tone to the show. Also let's be real here, the American version of SSSS is terrible! 😂

It is about which is better can we stop with this sesame st stuff? US version was watered down cuz Kyoryu was too real. Even with DBZ Japanese has been better hands down! More substance more believable more real period. The American version had its moments Jason n Trini may they Rise In Power were 2 bright spots. I wish Thuy would've been apart of Kyoryu she n Mei together wouldve fit perfectly.

@@Marcosatsu Exactly what I said. I get you said it's not about that but psychologically it is. Point being the original Japanese version is 1000x better then the US version. The Japanese version has more substance in its stories, the rangers are more relatable, and their origin story makes more sense. It reminds me of what they wanted to do with the Eternals movie. Even the kids swear n talk back which is real life. They bleed but learn important life lessons. The US version is sesame st compared to that. Do you not know what sesame st is? Ok how bout this analogy. The US version is rated G PG maybe compared to the PG13 R rated style of Japanese media. If we got that version instead of dogma dumb watered down stuff, then maybe the majority of our shows n movies wouldn't be trash.

MMPR was a million times better than Zyuranger even with their low production budget, cheesyness and bad acting. For me Zyuranger is in par with Goseiger as the most boring Senrai season I have ever watched.

You ask me, that dishonor goes to Gaoranger. Wild Force told basically the exact same story yet it managed to do it in a more engaging way thanks to the characters. The characters in Gaoranger (I never got to GaoSilver’s introduction btw) are bland as hell and the plots just drag on because of it. The worst part of all this is that it came right after Timeranger, my favorite Sentai! I managed to get through Goseiger and if I ever remember which episode I stopped at (I’m not rewatching the whole series) I’ll finish Zyuranger. I’m not touching Gaoranger again anytime soon (Turboranger’s worse though)!
