Ryuki was my first heisei show. It was shown at a local tv station back then. I was captivated by the design and the concept of cards. At school, us the geeks was into this and we use the voices on stupid stuff like to summon the broom we say broom vent or pencil vent etc. it was fun before and its still fun today.

Pre-W Reisei Kamen Rider was by far the best era of Kamen Rider. I miss the storytelling style and lowkey dark and gritty atmosphere of Faiz, Blade, even Kabuto. A lot of the shows had slow burn moments that really helped on making it feel genuine and sometimes even separate from it's real life counterpart actual eras. Faiz is by far my absolute favorite series both because of this as well as the character interactions. Having said that, Toushiki Inoue is the best Kamen Rider writer and one of the best in the industry.

I prefer the 1986 Ixa theme “Don’t lose yourself” which I’ve basically kind of dubbed that one the main theme for that rider, even if “fight for justice“ exists.

Watching New Generation and it's use of immersive advertising, while comparing it to the themes and drama of early Heisei - it has changed how I look at my own creative process. My magnum opus project is an Ultra so ancient, it's speculated to be the ancestor to all Ultras and Ultra-adjacent species - which that should go against our current knowledge of the Land of Light's origin story, but those contradictions are what add to the mystery factor of our strange primative giant. My Ultraman is kind of like Mew from Pokémon, in that, because he's an ancestor to the Ultra race, that means he can memorize and mimic any Ultra/Absolute/whatever technique or fighting style just by looking at it! What New Generation has done to influence my creative process is *how* my Ultra stores these memorized techniques. I'm thinking of some type of "memory modules" with an Ultra's face printed on like a small crystal. Each memory module is color coded with a specific element, because my Ultra also has multiple elemental forms based on the visible light spectrum. Usually, one colored form has 3 base memory modules - 1 from each age of Ultraman's lifespan as a franchise. For example: the green eco, plant-oriented form is more focused on passive combat mixed with Chlorokinesis, so the 3 base memory modules would be 80 (Showa), Cosmos (Heisei), and Grigio (New Generation). Other potentially toyetic ideas in mind is my Ultra's own special sword. Maybe he's so ancient, he can craft his own holy weapons similar to Zero's Ultimate Aegis.

Ryuki and 555 have something in common. The general audience prefers the movie over the actual show, despite for different reasons. Ryuki: It’s obvious. The show is literally “Kamen Rider Knight” despite having a strong narrative, while the movie (or to be more specific, Ryuga) allows Ryuki to be the actual protagonist of his own story. 555: The show is an incoherent mess, especially the ending, in contrast to the movie that provides a cohesive story with a satisfying conclusion.
