ADP is my game of the year for 2013. Fantastic system, fantastic modeling of the complexity of the political and military struggle. Real brain burner, tough to play (tough to win!), but satisfying no matter what happens.

This system seems to have some incredible opportunities, especially the focus on asymmetrical roles. Are there any currently announced plans for further games? I know we've so far seen pretty contemporary games but I'd be fascinated to see the system branch out a little further. The French Revolution jumps out to me as a setting where this could work wonderfully that hasn't really been done justice in boardgames so far.

Have you played Cuba Libre? Do you think it is as good as Andean?

Cuba Libre is definitely the easiest to wrap your head around (and it also plays the quickest). I like to think of Cuba Libre as the introductory game to get people to learn to play the COIN system. It's not a bad game, it's just not as dynamic as ADP or AA. Because of this it's much easier to comprehend paths to victory and what you should do when it comes to your action phase.

Marco reviews a board-game based on current conflicts. Nutters with extreme political ideologies take that as their cue to spread the word. THIS IS THEIR TIME. THE REVOLUTION STARTS HERE.

It's a pity the Bush regime didn't play this game.

john conner Sorry. I forgot the Bush war in Afghanistan was a resounding success. No wait, it wasn't. It's not politics John, it's facts.

Krasny999 Whether a success or not, there is no need to bring your political rantings to a wargame review. There are plenty of liberal/ progressive propaganda sites that would be a better fit for your Bush hate. You do realize he isn't President anymore, right?

john conner "It's a pity the Bush regime didn't play this game." Is hardly ranting. Bush isn't president any more? I must watch the news more often. Do you think it would have been a bad thing HAD the Bush regime played the game? Had they played it it may have improved their somewhat questionable record in Afghanistan. Just to show my comments are politically neutral, let me balance my comment by stating that it's a pity the Roosevelt regime didn't play Breakout Normandy. @Jbaz: The Obama regime has in my humble opinion been deeply disappointing.

John Kantor He's drank the liberal kool-aid Mr. Kantor. He's hopeless. At any rate, I hope he finds a site more attuned to his Bush bashing and leave Marcos to game reviews.

Anyone triggered by historical boardgames should just stick to watching television.

As usual, you are heavy on the procedural and MIA on the insightful. Reviews that cover the rules assume that their audience cannot read a rulebook on their own.

Or maybe they don’t yet own the game, and don’t have a rule book to read.
